Yes, that happens, and I'm sure has happened with others toward me. The things is, we do all we can. Speak, act, think, pray...but at the end of the day, the only ones who can change us (apart from God) is ourselves. We always strive, however, to help others in every way we can. Wesley said:

I have a friend that is like this all the time. She is always making the same complaints and asking for advice on the same topics, sometimes for years, but never acts on, or follows through with what i say. She may give it a half hearted try, say its too hard, or doesn't work, then keeps doing the same thing that wasn't working all along.

My step dad said
Something to ms one time that has adheared to
My life .. He said
"Missy "his pet name for me" , do you know what the definition of insanity is ?
(I didn't dare answer lol.) Well.. It's doing the same thing the same way, expecting different results...

When he said that to me a picture came to me . I saw what ever it was that I was doing like a wall.. I was in a car..
I just kept putting it in reverse as far as I could go, only to turn around from backing up, throwing it into drive and pushing the pedal to the metal to crash into it again..

we do what is familiar , instead of turning the steering wheel to go in another direction ..

I like the fine print in your reply .. Says it all!

People don't change because whatever they're doing works for them. Whether it be emotional, physical, etc, we have reasons for doing what we choose to do. They're getting something out of the actions they're performing, so unless/until their mindset changes, their actions will remain unchanged.

and as my buddy Mae (masters degree in psych nursing, and a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus) is famous for saying...

equal mental healths attract.

I can't count the number of times that occurs to me.

I mostly agree. It's possible to be duped, but for the most part birds of a feather flock together.
