Hey Everyone,

Just for fun, I was wondering how many of you have succumbed to As-Seen-On-TV Infomercial Syndrome during those late nights (or maybe on Sunday if you've stayed home from church.) Because of various retail situations, I am always amazed at how many people buy certain products and then return them as if they really expected to look like they've lost 25 pounds simply by wearing a giant cloth band around their stomach.

What miracle gadgets and products have seemingly hypnotized you into pulling out your credit card for that amazing machine that will cut perfect fries, make you 20 pounds lighter over night, tuck in your tummy, water your garden, griddle your cakes, and erase any sign of wrinkles, all at the same time?

I have to admit that for some reason, even when I'm flipping channels and only GLIMPSE at one of those ads for a few moments... Something in me becomes mesmerized and says, "Wow, think of how that would change your life!!"

I usually manage to resist. Usually. The last time I gave into an infomercial it was for Bare Escentuals makeup (which I know some women swear by) but for me, it only managed to inflame my entire face.

Oh, infomercials, how you tell your tall tales!!! And how we want so badly to believe!!

(So why am I changing channels to watch yet another one...)

What products had you at, "And that's not all, if you buy in the next 10 minutes..." and how did it go? (I am especially interested in any success stories out there... such as that Sensa Sprinkle This On Your Food and Lose 50 Pounds System...) And what about things like the Insanity workout... Was the only Insane part that you actually bought the DVD's???!!

Go ahead. Make me a believer.

(Or tell us the whole unpretty truth. :)) (If I say "the ugly truth", I'm sure Ugly will have something to say about it! :))

I am not an easy target for sales people by any means. My sister is the best sales person I have ever known, or met, and even she can't scratch my surface. I will say though, that if it's in regards to being a better musician or bassist...I'm a sucker. I bought a bass DVD that promised to help me master every scale and note on the fretboard, we'll see how well it works :)

I've seen some kitchen gadgets from time to time that tempt me. I've even written the number down to call later (because I'm usually watching a movie when the commercials come on), but then, fortunately, I lose the number and forget to call. :)

I think I would buy things but atm I just don't have the money to waste. I want a steam cleaner.

Knives. I've never purchased any off TV (actually, I haven't bought new knives since...um...you know, my knives are super dull, I should replace those), but I'm always tempted. See how easily you can chop all these vegetables! YOU'LL BE THE BEST CHEF EVER IF YOU BUY THIS KNIFE!

Problem is, a knife isn't going to fix my bad cooking, even if I DO manage to not cut my own hand off, which is unlikely.

But ohhh, I want a fancy knife.

I told myself that owning the entire Boy Meets World series would fill a gaping hole in my soul...turns out I was right

My old flatmate was a chef, she had fancy knives. I used them once, nearly chopped off my thumb and they were confiscated. She did sharpen my unfancy knives though.

Well, I bought a Snuggie once and it was horribly made and I hated the fabric. So, I threw it out and found a really cool Wonder Woman Snuggie that was way better and so cozy.

I COULD GET A WRAPTASTIC! AND A SECOND ONE FREEEEEE!

Sorry. I feel better now.

I am mesmerized by the Magic Bullet, but am always fighting counter clutter in my kitchen, so I only have one in my dreams.

I bought one of those for my ex-wife 'cause she begged for it...swore up & down she was gonna use it for loads of stuff. She used it once, broke it & it sat in our bottom cupboard in the kitchen for the next 7 yrs, until the day we were cleaning & sorting stuff & thru it out when we were waiting for the divorce papers to finalize. lol

I've never really seen any infomercials where I thought "I HAVE to have that!"

But...I can be an easy sell when it comes to food and colors. For example, regular Oreos are awesome. But Christmas Oreos with red icing?? I'm snatching those off the shelf without a second thought.

Another example: hot chocolate is good. But hot chocolate with rainbow marshmallows? I got way too excited at that Christmas present from my grandma.

(I'm too easily amused/excited, I guess)

It wasn't enough for me to have one package of Peeps for Easter... NO, I needed the PINK, BLUE, AND GREEN ones, thank you very much!!! :D As if the different colors really matter or have a different flavor...

But man. They sure did look pretty all lined up on my counter :). Nothing like a rainbow lineup of Peeps... not that they lasted long enough for anyone to admire them. ;)

I am a salesmans nightmare.

I dont buy stuff I don't want. (course these days im to poor to buy something of a dollar menu)
But I am one if they annoy me with advertizing/commercials I will never buy what they are selling ever. (course now I never see ads on the net anymore since I have them all blocked)

I love 4 As Seen on TV products... Wen, The Genie Bra, The Steam Shark and the Instyler. Oh and those fake cami panels that attach to your bra.

Wen is amazing. I have thick, curly, and frizzy hair and since using the shampoo my hair is softer, smells amazing, and has moisture in it. See for yourself in my avatar pic. It has no sulfate so you have to massage it in your hair while you are washing it but my hair has never felt so clean!

The Steam Shark is great as well. I cleaned my fridge out with it and it got is sparkling clean with hardly any scrubbing.

I have super thick, coarse hair so my flat iron has to get really hot. The Instyler works great and really gets my hair stick straight and shiny.

The Genie Bra is comfy and supportive. I highly recommend it.

Hope that helps. :)

Actually many (not all) things i see like that are good ideas, at least in theory, maybe not done well in practice. What turns me off from them is the actual commercials. They are so over-the-top corny and so exaggerated in showing the 'old way' of doing things. It just looks ridiculous and ruins any validity behind the idea of the product.

Once we found 'The Chopper' in a Walmart. We decided to try it. It worked. You had to be a professional body builder to have enough strength to actually cut all the way through anything, but the concept was valid. Perhaps sharper blades would have made the difference. Or renting pro body builders to help.

I've never been able to be influenced by infomercials. I never click ads online either. I hate ads in general....I wonder how many hours of my life has been wasted watching them. I pretty much buy the same things over and over so I don't really care about new products. My phone's off at the moment but I'm still using a stone-age cellphone that can't watch youtube videos or take pictures. lol
