It sounds like Austraila is a very odd place. LOL When I was a little kid,I always thought about visiting there...always look nice from the stuff I saw on TV...then 2 things made me reconsider,but the list is longer(I will spare you) but #1 the flight is ungodly long fron the US to there...Oh My Glob! 8hrs to the UK was enough for me. I get sooooooooooooooooo bored flying,even with a window seat 99% of the time there's nothing to see. Maybe I need to fly 1st class,everyone says flying is an entirely different time when you fly 1st class. Oh and reason #2 my view on visiting the land down under changed,was an absolutely vile film called Wolf Creek (supposedly based on a true story) Do not watch it. It's basically 2 hrs of rape & killing in the outback.
 
Australia's a great country. We're not violent but much of our wildlife is very violent. As for Wolf Creek, I haven't seen it, but it's based on a true story.

I know I know...and to be honest,it's more my boredom from the long flight than anything else...oh yeah & I'm poor. lol
 
I hear you on the long flights. The longest flight I was on was around 4 hours and it was the longest flight ever. I was so fidgety and just wanted to get off the dang airplane. lol I don't know if I could handle a flight that is longer than that, I would need to be knocked out or something. lol

I flew for the first time last fall. The first flight was only 45 minutes, the second flight (connecting flight? I don't know the terms, maybe that's what the first one was called) was almost 2 hours.

On the first flight I did nothing but stare out the window and marvel and the earth below me. I did that for about 20 minutes on the second flight and then got a bit bored, so I listened to music and read. They were both tiny planes and I didn't have much room to stretch so I did start feeling antsy!

well you are braver then I am. I wont fly. not that I am scared of the plane crashing. I just hate the TSA.

You seem like you were extremely calm during your first flight. My first flight, I was super still, I just prayed the whole time. lol I don't get as nervous now, but I still don't like looking out the window too much, I can feel that nervousness creep up if I stare too long.

But yeah, the way you did it is the best way. A nice short flight and then a connecting flight afterwords is good. Get's you used to the idea of flying.
 
I'm quite tall (6 foot 5 inches) and so plane travel for me is like riding in a sardine tin through the air - there's no leg room, it's just not comfy! I've only been overseas once and the plane flight was long enough for me - 7 hours to Kuala Lumpar, then 7.5 hours to Japan. I hate flying because it terrifies me (I almost had a panic attack and I prayed a lot).

So you don't like getting felt up by the TSA? :p You could always just do the X-Ray scanner thingy. That's what I do sometimes.

The first flight was out of a really small airport, early in the morning, and it was just standard stuff, I didn't get patted down or anything. I would hate that. The second airport I didn't have to go through that again so I guess I really didn't have to deal with the TSA much!

I was nervous, but I also had a nice older guy who sat beside me, and we chatted before takeoff and I told him it was my first flight. He explained things that would happen, some sounds I would hear (both in takeoff and landing) which was really helpful because otherwise I probably would have freaked out. :P

Oh my! That is tall. I once rode a bus (Jefferson Lines, less fancy/nice than a Greyhound) for 23 hours straight. I got a seat to myself, but I felt so cramped, the rows were so close together. I'm only 5'7'', I can only imagine the trouble you would have had, Tintin. ;)

Way I look at the TSA deal. If It is illegal for me to feel up random people or set up some perverted nude image machine they should not get away with it ether.

truth be told. I wish everyone would just quit flying and fight this oppressive government we have.

The only thing that freaks me out about Australian Critters is the spiders....I hate spiders. I cringe just thinking about them

I got bitten by one of the sheep once. I got a blood blister. I think I was about 4 and I was really upset because it was once of our caddies (hand reared) and I thought she didn't like me anymore then 2 days later I found her dead and was even more upset! She was just really old and grumpy. I can't stop the geese from nipping but they belong to my dad and I take no responsibility for them. I just clip their wings every now and then.
 
I feel the need...the need for FROOT LOOPS!!! Hope adekruif didn't eat them all.

My first flight was right after my senior year. I was really nervous and ended up being seated right next to my 9th grade coach, who I hadn't seen for a few years. That helped a lot.
 
I just spent 20 minutes looking for something that doesn't even exist.

I hate mornings.
