The problem of female pastors

to be honest, I don't remember where God ordained anyone to be a pastor in the nt, man or woman. The churches of the time did not resemble the churches of today in any way,

Sorry you feel the way you do.. I guess we should go back to the days where women are second hand citizens.. And can;t be used by God.

Fortunately, as has already been shown in this thread, God used many women leaders of churches.. but I guess all this means nothing to you.

there are MANY like him,, I grew up with alot of them. And have seen them all over my travels.

Well im sheltered up here....Men can be abusive and darn mean especially when they have no other iknowledge
how to deal with their responsibilities and maybe that includes people around them. But thats the fallen nature and sin,
and ignorance. Some i spose but id say few men want to be ugly, if given the tools and info i think they would be free
from abuse. But darkness(ignorance) means darkness and they cant pull the right way to be out their ear.
I dont hear them much use the bible to excuse themselves....

We also have laws here that if you swear or scream at anyone its 4th degree assault which comes with jail time
and possibly mandatory court approved councelling....which to me is a blessing in disguised. If a man needs help
he needs help and if the church doesnt catch it id hope the system does for everyones sake including the man.
Plus woman take fullcontact karate here too and theres alot of fireing ranges.:p:cool: But we dont change scripture
to do our duty. All of us need discipled according to our need. And then this would be avoided, or corrected.
Id like to see churches that were transparent enough where this stuff could be handled as a common issue, rather
then swept under the rug.

This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach (1 Timothy 3:1-2).

Bishops and elders were always told to be a husband of one wife. It never says anything about women being bishops or elders in the church. Please examine the Bible a little better before you criticize others. Just saying.

I see no mention of pastor there.

Please think about what your posting before you criticize someone with unfounded passages.

and also look at history. and how women were treated.

Well is it disgraceful for a man to have long hair or act like a woman? In the same way is it disgraceful for a woman to shave their head and act like a man? I think it has to do with homosexaulity more than anything. I dont see long hair being disgraceful. However, being a woman (when a male) is disgraceful and a sin no doubt.

The word pastor wasn't used back in those days. But an elder or a bishop was what we would call a pastor today, so please don't try and act clever. Study the Bible a bit better before you speak ill of others.
 
I think people tend to get 2 things mixed up here. The bible teaches us that the man is the head of the home. And it talks about roles for men and women. This is biblical! But if someone is spreading the gospel and teaching/preaching God's word to the world why does it matter if its a man or a woman.

Now if we are talking about a preacher having power and control or domination over other people, then that's a whole different topic which I believe God would not like be it a man or woman.

Ephesians 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

Pastors were shepards of local assemblies.

Again try studying history.

And don;t tell me about studying scripture.. Your studying is quite flawed itself. it takes more than studying words..

Women can indeed preach the gospel. What we're talking about is positions of authority in the church. God did not ordain women for this. Time and time again I always hear people say, "This is the 21st century. It's about time the church stopped living in the dark ages and allow women to be pastors." But Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. How arrogant that man thinks God is going to change his word, just to "keep up with society."

Testifying is never forbidden. I have given my testimony in my church in front of "everyone". I teach Sunday school. I used to be part of the praise and worship team. I have even conducted few Bible study classes for the young women's gathering. But I have never stepped up on that pulpit to preach to the "church". God has clarified our gender roles in the church and I am going to stick with them and teach my future daughter/s the same :)

Sorry, I meant to say that elders, bishops, pastors, etc are all positions of authority in the church. It never says anything about women taking any of these roles, never. It's always men. That's why it says, "The husband of one wife" (1 Timothy 3:1-2).

Yet as was proven in here.

There were women elders, there was at least one woman apostle. and other stuff.

You want to basde a whole theology on one sentence out of a bible with is millions of sentances long.

thats the problem with todays theologians, they take verses to make doctrines, instead of taking the bible to make a belief.

Okay, show me where in the New Testament a woman was an elder over a congregation. Just show me and I'll believe you.
