I have one sad example more where look have counted between christians... my brother. (btw me and my bro have some way simliar liking about outlook) Anyways there was a girl I call nicname as Siso. She had very strong crush on my bro but there was some problems. First was her outlook.
Because of her... life before she didn't looked like the most ordinary girl. She was like black long hair, EXTREMELY muscular (and big), some piercings not to forget tattoos. For both my and my brothers taste her appearance was repelling. It's said that people tell about themselves by their outlook and her outlook was screaming loud "Not your type man!" We all were young (and still are) and my bro and siso tried, really tried to relationship as christians should have it in their case... but it didn't work. After the summer when siso told her feelings my bro realised he is not ready yet and backed off. He said to me that one misinformation of outlook, too much sexual attraction and the girls words towards him. They didn't talked ever after that summer and the few time I managed to chat with siso I learned she is getting distracted from God. (If some of you feels so, please remember her at your prayer)

Ha, Sharp is hilarious, as always. Actually... I would have to bow out in that case... I don't do well under competitive circumstances... (and I always seem to lose out anyway 'cause if there's another girl involved--it's like kickball in the 6th grade where I'm always chosen last, and only out of obligation!)

Interesting topic. I'm a little late to the game here, but I'll put my 2 cents in (not that they're worth much, what with inflation and all...). I think it's naive to say that looks don't count for something in a relationship. Sometimes we might try to argue otherwise, because to say that they do count can sound vain and shallow. The thing is, as others have pointed out, there has to be some kind of physical attraction. There are people who have wonderful personalities, but there are just no romantic feelings there, no attraction whatsoever. And if that's the case, you're going to have a hard time making a relationship work.
That being said, you shouldn't date on looks alone, and you could also be quite physically attracted to a person but share nothing in common. Many people have situations like this, and it usually doesn't work out. You have to have a deeper connection than that. But, from what I've seen, even when you may not have a romantic interest in someone at first, sometimes getting to know them causes your perspective to change and that physical attraction begins to develop.
But we all have different tastes, and I believe those tastes were given to us by God. And I don't think that it's vain to appreciate attractiveness in a person - God made us the way that we are, and those feelings are an important part of a relationship. It just can't be the sole basis for your relationship. So, I think it's acceptable to say that looks do count. There are just other things that count (or SHOULD count) for more, like a strong relationship with Christ.
