Your let-downs

Everyone has them - what are some of the lines you use to break up with someone, let them down easy, or try to let them know "hey, I'm just not that into you"?

For example, the old classic, "I'm going to be really busy for awhile"

Let's hear your let-down lines! (or ones you've been told)

lol nanabean, I don't mind you posting here if no one else minds.
 
I think I actually used "It's not you, it's me" once... but what I meant was "It's not me, it's you." lol

I've also used "I think we're just too different."
 
" It's like I don't even know you!"

I've never dated anyone nor had to break up with anyone, so I use that line alot for people who I need to let down...that I don't know

"Why ruin a good friendship?"

I've used both before. I hate having to let down guys, but if you don't feel the way they do, then what's the point?

There was one guy that didn't even tell me he was breaking up with me. I only found out because I asked my best friend. Her boyfriend told her that the guy didn't think it was gonna work out. What a jerk!

"I wish I could say I felt the same, but I don't."

Hmm i used the... 'it's not you, it's me' one. But looking back i have NO idea why. It was nothing to do with me, it was most definetly him :S haha.
 
I always use the.... its you....... not me. or..... you irritate me... go away.
 
I use "I just need some space" as code for "you're clingy and you're smothering me and I'm sooo outta here!"

Oh come on, Sam, you know you like it when I call you 7 times an hour and leave 12 voicemails a day...

When I took Spanish, there was a day when we were learning how to extend invitations and then accept or decline them. At least 3 of us (including me) seperately looked up the words in order to say "No, thanks. I have to wash my hair."

I'm trying to remember it now... "No, gracias. something something lavar me pella..." (my profound apologies to anyone out there who actually speaks Spanish for my horrible butchering of the language)

It's ok, Nana, you can post your wisdom here!!! Believe me, I need some good advice. :) God has even worked me over enough to be able to listen and follow as well (in my younger days... forget it!) How about the unspoken but obvious.... "My friends make fun of me because you're a different race than I am... so it's not going to work out." Heh.

OBVIOUSLY, the entire point here is that we all have to learn how to let people down in another language...
