That's one big spider. I can understand being scared. For me it's more like the size. I am not afraid of baby roaches, praying mantis or dragonflies or spiders. Kind of everything that is small is cute... But show me the big ones and I'll propel myself right through the ceiling...
Please put her outside. The cup and paper idea is great. Just slide the paper gently through the underside of the cup, hopefully plastic so you can see her as you do this, and she'll jump into the cup. Don't be afraid when she drops like that. You have a cup between you both. Then keep the paper over the top of the cup and put her outside.
Open your door, you can hold the paper to the cup top by putting it under your chin and pressing down gently so it stays secure as you open the door with the other hand.
Then let her outside. Under a tree or near shrubs so she can find cover. She won't hurt you.
All God's creatures. Even spiders.
Even the poisonous one's, which she is not one. Imagine putting yourself in their place. If you were just a few inches off the ground in a big huge world of predators wouldn't you want to pack a powerful punch if threatened?
i was going to tell you!
this morning i went out my front door to stow some rubbish, and i watched a little baby lizard hunt down and eat a lynx spider!
seriously i thought, i must tell Miri!
then i thought, wait, do they even have lizards in the UK? certainly not anoles.
Really though, you might consider leaving the spider alone. They eat other bugs that may bug you and they aren't a danger to you. They look scary but imagine what they look like to any bug that may enter into your place.
And after you buy the lizard that's lots of upkeep. Warming lamp, warming rock, bedding, a house for them of course. And food. Crickets, meal worms. Very costly.
Whereas a spider insect remover lives free catching their own meals.
A friend of mine years ago moved into a Florida apartment that turned out to have a few bugs, roaches actually. She went to a pet store and bought Gecko's and let them loose in her place.
In about a week she noticed, no roaches. But now she heard little barking sounds. The Gecko's were hungry.
