It's too late at night to step into that debate--
but, Paul said, "the church is the upholder (piller) and foundation (defender) of the truth." sorry, that is just from memory that verse. But, then you have to define "church" There are potential problems and strengths of both sides-- Protestant vs. Catholic in both views of "church" Many Christians agree that some Protestants need more structure, and Catholics need a new Reformation of grace, since they appear to have ex-communicated the Apostle Paul from their theology and Martin Luther who defended him.

But, the Lord wants us to work together as Christians and find common ground: "I pray that they may be one (in spirit) that the world may know that You sent Me."
This is a command of Christ necessary to prepare the way of the Lord.
If we can not work out our differences, then the LOrd may have to intervene.
