Someone said you couldn't possibly be a Christian and gay.....

Well I am a murdering, adultress, lying, stealing, dishonoring parenting, taking God's name in vein, idol worshiping, Sabbath breaking, coveting - Christian.... Blasphemy you say.... Well it's true all of it. At one time in my life and even currently on some of this stuff as I do slip and fall on occasion.... I have broken every last one of the 10 commandments literally.... But and there is a BIG one.... I gave my heart to God and I am now called a Christian....

Who did the convincing of my sin? It was God's Holy Spirit speaking to my heart showing me the wrongness of my ways, that I should not have had that abortion, that lying was not good, stealing not necessary, disrespectful not to obey my parents and highly disrespectful to take God's name in vein.... hurtful to be with another woman's husband and so on...

So if a gay person is convicted by the Holy Spirit and has changed their lifestyle it is possible that a gay person could be a Christian they just don't practice it anymore as I now choose not to go against God's law anymore...the fact is I was all those things before and the gay person was gay... but now we are both Christians....

I still fall into sin at times....slippage - I get upset with myself when I do.... It's called repentance and asking for forgiveness and Jesus forgives us and saves us.... His instruction is as always Go and sin no more.... Only with the Holy Spirits help is that possible. Thank God for His love and mercy....
I know a guy who calls himself gay because he isn't attracted to women. He rarely gets tempted anymore with the other thoughts. He's a born again christian, lol rebuking straight guys who live in sin. Some straight christians have more problems fighting lust than he does. I wouldn't call him gay though.

You wouldn't call him gay, but he still thinks of himself as gay....but he is a Christian not practicing the sin that tempted him... That is what most all of us Christians are....sinners that with the Holy Spirits help don't practice our sinning anymore.. Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb is what we are.

I believe that's what I said. If i'm fornicating, I can't very well judge YOU for fornicating, now can I? :)

Not judge, no, but an elder man in our church had an interesting story about how he was saved. He had a friend he use to drink with, they were both alcoholics. One night they were singing the blues over their drinks at a bar. The other man told my elder friend that his mother told him he needed Jesus and needed to go to church and get saved. When my elder friend sobered up he attended a church and became saved and gave up the drink. He went back to testify to his drinking buddy, who had given him the advice. His friend wouldn't listen,I don't know if he ever became saved but my elder friend remained a faithful Christian the rest of his life.

I understand what you are saying here...we have all fell and came short....but once we are saved and washed in the blood of the Lamb our sins are forgiven... Not just forgiven but forgotten...God casts them into the sea of forgetfulness and does not remember them or hold them against us anymore...

The old man is dead and crucified with Christ. You are not called by those names anymore...You are now called by the name of Christ or Christian...I'll use myself as an example here: I have committed fornication in my past before I was saved...but I don't say I'm a fornicating Christian...those things are totally against each other. The same goes for saying some is a gay Christian. If they are saved they are no longer gay they have been forgiven. So we can't call them a gay Christian.

And like you said we all slip and make mistakes. I agree, when we ask for forgiveness God forgives us and tells us to go and sin no more, and yes that is only possible through the grace of God.

Oh alright! I think it was the way you wrote it " or any sin for that matter" that led to the misunderstanding.
It appeared to me that you were saying if we are in any sin then we shouldnt judge for a particular sin.
It doesn't make a difference whether I'm viewing porn, and you're committing adultery (example only).. If we're BOTH committing a sin, then we still can't judge each other, because it's still sin whether we're both doing the same sin or not.. :) That's just my view on it.

*The above was an example. I do NOT view porn* lol

Maybe we should rephrase the question.... Do you have a right to speak out against gay people unless you are gay?
Let's just put a end to this who has a right to judge..all spiritual believers have biblical authority to judge ... now I would bet many on this forum have very little understanding of what it means to be "spiritual"...but the authority is given and.clear...if you believe all the New Testament ..and not just two or three scriptures

I have all the authority I need to judge what God has called me to judge....end of debate

Then why does he say "judge not, unless you be judged also"? GOD alone judges sin.. You nor I or anyone else can.

John 7: 24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.

"It would seem that Jesus' major concern is that people do not make snap judgments from what they guess might have happened. Many people (both Christians and non-Christians) tend to fall into this kind of judgment problem, if they are not careful to check the facts carefully. For example, one should not judge a person based upon the group to which he belongs.

Not all Muslims are terrorists. Not all Christians are hypocrites. Not all atheists practice rampant immorality. Notice that the verse does not tell us not to judge at all, but to judge according to righteousness. If we cannot verify the truth about an accusation, we should keep our mouths shut. This does not mean that we will not dispute the facts or opinions expressed by certain individuals. However, such critiques are not personal attacks, but are usually related to a defense of the Christian faith."

"Christians are often accused of being judgmental. However, what most people consider to be judgmental is merely telling others what the Bible says are unacceptable behaviors. Christians tell others what the Bible says about behavior because we are commanded to do so, so that others may lead morally acceptable lives.

However, we are specifically commanded not to judge the behavior of individuals for whom we do not have absolute certainty of the truth regarding their actions. The Christian Church is to remove sin from within its own ranks first and foremost before condemning the actions of outsiders."

If we do not practice THAT particular sin anymore, we cannot identify with THAT LABEL anymore. We are new creations in Christ! I am no longer the SINNER I once was when I was lost. Does renewing the mind ring a bell?

And if you still identify yourself with theses things: You need to repent ! I dont think you understand that Christ came to set us free and not to continue on with the blind mindset of the lost.Perhaps you are a babe in Christ and you do not yet understand this..IDK.... IN Christ > I am a saint according to Gods Living Word
Well I am a murdering, adultress, lying, stealing, dishonoring parenting, taking God's name in vein, idol worshiping, Sabbath breaking, coveting - Christian....

Nope! Not true .

This is what Jesus is actually saying! CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT...............

"Judge not lest ye be judged. —Matthew 7:1

Hey, who can argue with Jesus—right? The verse often is taken to mean nobody has the right to judge anybody for anything at any time.
The problem? The verse has a context. Jesus told us what He meant.
When Jesus spoke these words on the slopes surrounding the Sea of Galilee, He wasn’t saying never to judge. He simply warned about doing it the wrong way—by telling us how to make judgments the right way.
And believe me, it ain’t easy.
[h=3]Jesus isn’t Confused[/h] Later in the same book, Jesus commands we do confront a fellow Christian caught in a sin (Matthew 18:15-17). This awkward obligation is supported elsewhere in the Bible (Galatians 6:1).
So, what did Jesus mean, then, when He said, “Judge not lest ye be judged”? The verse that follows explains—and often it isn’t quoted. Jesus tells us exactly what He meant:
Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. — Matthew 7:1-2
Jesus wasn’t confused in His teaching. He didn’t mean we should never make a judgment about right and wrong. As He explained, He meant we shouldn’t make a judgement hypocritically. The verses that follow make this patently clear (Matthew 7:3-5)."

I took this explanation from:
https://www.waynestiles.com/judge-not-lest-ye-be-judged-what-jesus-meant/
I liked the manner in which he explains it:)

You like others seem to think the New Testament ends with that passage. ..it does not...the scriptures go on to explain many things and one of those things is the spiritual responsibility that spiritual believers have to judge... if you guys don't know the bible enough to understand that? Maybe you all need to stop trying to teach and learn from those that God has called and equipped to teach.

Seems like the folks so determined that other christians cannot judge...always seem to think they have the right to judge what others can judge. What is more self-righteous than saying God's moral standards should not matter?

I can understand judging RIGHTEOUSLY, which Jesus did. But as Tinman pointed out, not to judge hypocritically, as many always do..

Just because we are children of the most high God...it doesn't mean that we get to look down on others. We are still no better and no worse than anyone else. We have received grace. God doesn't throw our sin in our face and shame us. He lovingly corrects us and still loves us even though we fall short of His correction.

Who made you the judge? Who are you to decide when someone is using righteous judgment?.. No man or woman can tell me how or when to judge...God alone tells me and whether folks on this forum like it or not...don't really matter to me.

Who are you to judge? See how that works?
