Oh I know it's not anymore. I just meant my mother never was the kinda person to do something because it was a "man/woman" thing to do.

I know a woman that is 72 that just went and got a new tattoo.
I'm not a fan of it but I still think it's pretty cool she had it done
.
Presley: Well, people of all ages do it, now; in North America now, probably more women than men do it.

Did the 72 year old do it before, do you know? the first one is kind of extra special, anyway.

Blessings.

Oh, well, then this makes it quite special, doesn't it? The extract from the article quoted in post #138 has identified a definite trend, I think. Having said that, what we really need is for the Lord to change people's hearts, that is, on the inside, by His grace. Whether they later get some outward design to show their new-found faith is another matter.

Blessings.

PS: Misty77:

So is there a good parlor near you? feeling a bit anxious since it will be your first one?

These days, anyway, going to the parlor for ink is a bit like going to a salon. So first ink need not be hurdle that it might once have been. (In any case, faith based designs can be a good witness opportunity, which presumably is the whole point of them for a lot of Christians.)

Blessings.
I'm going to a friend's tattoo artist in who has done all of her body art. Not nervous: excited!

Ms. Misty:

Well, if you're not nervous but excited, sounds like you are completely confident, and rather keen to get injected with your first ink.

Do you know how long your tattooed friend, whose tattoo artist you are using, also, has herself been getting inked?

Blessings.

A few years. She has "cherished" on her left wrist, "hope" on her neck, and a section of scripture on her back

Good, faith based content for her tattoos, then.

She didn't stop at wrist, clearly. (I think you said yours will be wrist.)

Blessings.

PS: Misty77:

Yes, these days, the experience can be approached with a good amount of confidence, with the usual precautions and common sense, of course. As meggars said about her experiences, on the other thread:
The trick is to choose the prime real estate. .. Anything that is harder to get fattened up because there's just less skin to spare.....thats ideal. Outer extremities are usually safe....elbows and knees down. My back one is upper back. Pretty sure that usually doesn't go too far. If you don't go for super fine detail it should still look like what its supposed to years down the road. Ink is better than it used to be. Less "bleeding" of the lines and whatnot
What meggars says about the ink is very true: the inks these days are much better than they used to be.

Blessings.

PS: Ms. Misty77: Looks like your new avatar shows a tattoo, right?

Celtic is almost tribal in design, often, I think.

Oh no. Not at all. She still loves it and still acts like she just got it.
Presley:

Well, I guess this is just how it should be, if she made a good choice. :)

So do you know the 72 year old tattooed lady quite well, then?

(Sometimes people will get to open up quite a lot about how they feel about their ink.)

Blessings.

Yup! I've known her since I was 11. I use to be really good friends with her grand daughter and now I'm her house cleaner. Lol
She talks about her tattoo a lot. She is a very open person so she talks about everything as well.

Presley:

Sounds like it's a really nice tattoo, anyway. Is it faith based in design?

If you've known her granddaughter for that length of time, I guess the granddaughter herself would also be old enough to have one, if she wanted. In terms of social and fashion history, things have progressed a great deal; from having been a man thing, years ago, now in terms of family trends and customs young women -and young men - today in getting tattooed may well be following their grandmothers.

Blessings.

I'm not a fan of her tattoo. But that's just because I don't like elephants.
So no her tattoo isn't faith based. As for her grand daughter, she has two tattoos. One for her mom and one for her dad.

Presley:

Well, it's an individual thing. But it also happens as a family trend. Particularly if she is about contemporary with you, it's not at all surprising that she has had it done by now (more than once, in fact, you said). Though often there is family influence and custom.

You may not know her mom and dad, but maybe they are both inked, as well, well before your friend about your age was?

Such a family trend wouldn't be surprising.

Blessings.

Presley:

Sounds like you saw her dad's faith based tattoos.

So it was three generations: father, grandmother and granddaughter all tattooed. I guess it's kind of a nice thought really that it was the dad's faith based designs that probably 'blazed the trail' for inking in the family...don't you think?

Blessings.
