When comparing sausage....
Took a sausage patty I had made from scratch and one from McDonald's out of a biscuit.
Looking at them through a microscope and other visual inspections....
Even the brown spots in the Grey meat are painted with food coloring on the McDonald's patty. The spices are from essential oils instead of actual herbs and spices. The color otherwise was uniform and no discernible meat fibers. Meaning that this was likely made from animal protein but ammonia washed and processed gristle and skin.
The scratch made had chunks of white meat and a few Grey pieces with obvious specks of herbs and spices. The browning of the outside was clearly seared meat.
The flavor?
Scratch made is addictive because of the flavor. McDonald's? Meh. Salty and shallow flavor.
