Y'all have turned this into one of those "I MUST have the last word!" arguments. You're not going to quit until you get the last post lambasting coffee and nobody else says anything.
Just wait until you get married. The wife MUST have the last word in any argument and anything that the husband says after that is the beginning of a new argument. :p

Women in general have to be this way. I know last week everything my bf did and said was wrong and I totally blew up at him. I'm hoping he can forgive me

You're obviously well trained and know the drill. :)

like the experts say: and that we both have learned, one addiction leads to another,
whether physical or spiritual...may God have mercy upon us and give us the courage
and Faith to 'Over-Come'!
I have an addictive personality. I'm either in it all the way, or I'm not in it at all. Addiction isn't a bad thing. It's what we're addicted to that can be a bad thing.

I was addicted to drugs. I am addicted to cigarettes. Bad things.

I have never been addicted to coffee. (Don't like the stuff. Taste nasty.) Neither bad, nor good.

I am addicted to studying God's word. I am addicted to figuring out ways to apply it to my life. I am addicted to the Lord. Good things.

AND, I am addicted to writing. Neither bad nor good. What I write, however, can be bad or good. (Okay, so the way I write does not merit "good" yet, but neither does how I follow the Lord. I'm still a work-in-process. But what I write about can be either good or bad.)

Addiction isn't a bad thing. It's what we're addicted to that can be a bad thing.

Coffee is NOT a bad thing to be addicted to. It merely taste nasty. lol

It's nasty.

I have never figured out why people drink stuff with bitterness in the background. However, I also don't get why people drink hot things. Hot burns the mouth, and I drink to be refreshed, soooo, I also don't drink hot chocolate.

I also don't get why people play golf or watch football. (Either American or soccer.) Just because I don't like something, doesn't mean the rest of the world can't enjoy it anyway.

Science is proving that diets, completely of animal flesh at 70% fat are the best too.
Science has proven people cannot live on just one food all their lives.

There was a time, in Europe, when poor people ate nothing but potatoes. And I mean nothing but -- from the time they could first eat to the time they died. They did die in their 30s or 50s. So scientists think they got it right. Except for one little thing, the rich people -- who ate whatever they wanted -- also died in their 30s or 50s back then.

We really have come to believe what we want out of science. You're not wrong. The naysayers of coffee aren't wrong. We just go with "the science" we want to believe.

(I prefer your science to vegan science. lol)

laura_charlotte: "Caffeine diuretic addiction?" "Dehydration weight loss?"

Caffeine is addictive, and overuse does have some health detriments... although my 86 year old grandmother might argue that last point, as she still volunteers at the nursing home (she calls the bingo numbers.) You can make a legitimate case against caffeine. You don't have to make things up.

I have never heard any woman say, "Oh man, I feel so bloated today. I have got to get some coffee to get back down to my normal weight!"
That's just because that's the kind of thing women usually say when men aren't around.

I have heard it. There's even a "coffee cleanse." (Don't buy it, but have heard it. lol)

This is rather assumptive and judgemental.. :(

I'm pretty sure God doesn't judge us for what we eat and drink..
I'm positive he does, given the Law included all kinds of dietary restrictions. Just because we've failed every which way to Sunday on the Law doesn't mean God isn't going to judge anymore. The only difference is that some he has chosen to give the punishment for breaking that law square on the shoulders of Jesus on that cross.

For those genuinely interested in learning and thinking critically I will elaborate further for productivity. Caffeine can be a diuretic addiction that can give metabolic damage. It may not be an obvious, direct motive of any to lose weight via its intake, but for those who do begin a consistent intake of caffeine when they've come from such a contrasting, healthy lifestyle, they can find, as a byproduct, short term, a weight loss occuring and this is due to the dehydration caused by the drug of caffeine itself. In essence, it is a drug well worth staying away from.
He, (at least, I think that was Mr. Oldethannew. I might be wrong and that was Mrs. Oldethannew), asks about the faithful and you equate that with more "science" about coffee? You have a strange concept of what faithful means.

IMO, some folks responding here NEED coffee...they are some irritable and if not coffee...could we interest you in a glass of warm milk? or perhaps a hot toddy?

We either choose to live according to our own understanding, or by the spirit of Jesus Christ; either live focused on ourselves, or submitted to the Living Word.

The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, "Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners." But wisdom is justified of her children.

But food does not make us acceptable to God; for neither if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it.

For God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.

This is why we do not lose courage. Though our outer self is heading for decay, our inner self is being renewed daily.

O Timothy, guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge”, which some professing have erred concerning faith.

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God and everyone who loves is born of God and knows Him; he who does not love does not know God for God is love.

Nothing to do with having the last word but when the science you’ve educated others on has been twisted, taken out of context, totally failed comprehension in its meaning, wrapped up in a shell of sarcasm and from this pronounced: “don't lie!” – clarification on facts is required for the wider audience online, those actually interested in learning and bettering their health on the topic long term.

For about 5 years I was all raw, but now am about 75% - 80% only.
Brother Joseph, you and I both know there are people who would criticize you for not being 100% raw, perhaps even accuse you of being faithless. God forbid! I know you are faithful to God and believe you have found that 75% - 80% raw works best for you, and I respect that.

...none of you can back your claims of coffee being good for you with science, because it can not be.
You are right. :) Neither do I claim coffee has no side effects. Everything we eat or drink has positive and negative effects, depending on where we purchase it, how we prepare it, how much we eat of it, etc. Being right or wrong about drinking coffee or being 100% raw is neither here not there to me.

I posted the previous scriptures not in any way contradicting what you've posted, brother Joseph, but because of those who are commenting suggesting Christians who drink coffee are unfaithful. Not that it takes away my liberty in Christ, but it may very well cause a new Christian to stumble and wonder if his/her salvation is not secure in Christ alone. Does that make sense?

Anyhow, I just want you to know I always appreciate your input, Joseph. Blessings to you! :)
