The 11th step from Celebrate Recovery. They have Christin 12 step meetings for multipule and singular disorders like; PTSD, Women in recovery for Sexual abuse. Of course Alcohol/addiction. Eating disorders, Co-dependency and for women and children. One I can remember in Long Beach Ca. on 7th near Redondo had a kitchen and dining room that was converted every morning for a NA/AA meeting, tables were stacked to make room for the folding chairs.

Any way, every Thursday they had a regular church service of sorts. It preceeded separate 12 step meetings for many thing like AA/NA type meetings, Domestic abuse, and eating disorders. They had an open volunteer operated kitchen. Sandwiches, coffee, donuts. Etc. It's a weekly thing, there's often child care. Of course volunteer work means hit and miss. We can't get mad because we can't get something free. Commercial over, Oh, maybe there's a place like that in your town.
"We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us, and power to carry that out. ** /Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly." Colossians 3:16/
Principle 7; Reserve a time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.

Step eleven helps our lives stay in .by keeping contact with the Lord. Following the directions we receive from him, while praying, and meditating on his word. We develop a sane and sound outlook on life. We make wiser choices, our emotions level out, we become calmer, cooler, wiser and more self confident. We've come to know ourselves better and we can understand those around us better too. Our lives have changed and so has out outlook on it. Our new found happiness is real and we look forward to step twelve and helping others as we have become more mature, responsible people and life's more fun, grounded and sane.

Here's a address for you.
https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/individuals/Documents/COD-Fact-Sheet.pdf
It's detailed regarding Co Occurring disorders (COD for short or Dual Diagnosis for slang) I got the following from that site.>

Prevalence; The United States Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reports, “In the decades from the 1970s to the present, substance abuse treatment programs typically reported that 50 to 75 percent of their clients had COD, while corresponding mental health settings cited proportions of 20 to 50 percent.”

50+20= 70. 70/2= 35% 50+75= 125 125/2= 62.5% so the average range both ways is 35-62.5% percent with any mental or emotional disorder or any substance abuse disorder have both. We are here to share the truth with you. Accept or reject it. That's your decision.

BTW Thats reported case including years before dual disorders was a recognized combination. That's only people in treatment also, so the numbers are likely much higher due to denial.

For some it's a bridge to serinity

12.) Having had a spiritual revival through following these steps, we now carry the Good News to those who also suffer the enigma of multiple disorders, as we do practicing these principles in all our affairs.

Here is where we pay it forward!

Comming early in to make decent coffee. Counts! Folding up chair's, counts. Telling anyone you think needs to get to recovery counts! We're not here to revolutionize.

D.T.'s and the Twelfth Step.
The D.T.'s are serious! They may come with hallucinations and/or seizures. The Old timers of AA used to make house call as part of their 12th step work along with jails and hospitals. When doing house calls they carried Gin in the trunk in case the person that called for help started going through the DT's. They would give the person enough alcohol to stabilize them. The next thing was to get them to go to a hospital and take them. It dosn't do much good to talk to them until they're sober and stable.

The Apostles were sent in groups of twos and threes. A late sponsor of mine worked with the L.A. county dept. of Mental Health. He carried a notebook filled with referral addresses and phone numbers. He carried with us when we walked the down town alleys and visited homeless camps with sandwiches and bus tokens. If they were willing, we could get them into a hospital, treatment center or half way house. We had a list of all sorts of meetings and resourses including mental health. Unfortunately some would sleep under a bush or in a box in the rain than accept help. But occasionally they too come around. They get sick and tired of being sick and tired.

My former home group "Scrambled eggs," DRA of Long Beach often would have volunteers to make lunches after the meeting. We were a legitimate non profit org. My sponsor would take a receipt book. go to grocery stores and pick up good but past sell by date food stuffs and give them a tax deductible receipt for the food they would have thrown away. Win, Win. We got free food they got another tax write off. Of course we always had government cheese and peanut butter. It looks real good to people who may not have eaten in a couple of days. Combine that with Hospitals and institutions panels. Plus we made and served free breakfast after the meetings on Sunday Mornings. We considered everybody involved as working on step 12 in some way.
Our motto was "Scrambled eggs belong on our plates, not in our heads."

Step 12 is a personal thing what can we do to reach out and help others? What did others do for us along the way? Make coffee, bring some day old donuts? Get an education to share with others who are still hurting.. Become a sponsor! Join a panel or just give somebody a ride to a meeting or step study. When you did the personal inventory You surely realized a lot of things you are good at. Just pick one the next time you work the steps you can pick another one as you get better inside it's bound to manifest itself outside too. With the help of the Lord things get better as we get better. This meeting is still open... Who's next?

The obsession to drink, use or lock the world out has been removed from us. It has been replaced by the desire to help others.
That's a miracle made manifest in our lives

From AA central office.>
  • We are not fighting it, neither are we avoiding temptation.
  • We feel as though we had been placed in a position of neutrality - safe and protected.
  • We have not even sworn off. Instead, the problem has been removed. It does not exist for us.
  • We are neither cocky nor are we afraid.

  • That is our experience. That is how we react so long as we
Expect More Miracles

Many people who have recovered through 12 step programs say, "I have come to expect miracles in my life as a result of working these steps."
