The Lighthouse

There's a Lighthouse on the hillside
That over looks life's sea
When I'm tossed it sends out a light
That I might see
And the light that shines in darkness now
Will safely lead us o'er
If it wasn't for the Lighthouse
My ship would be no moreChorus:
And I thank God for the Lighthouse
I owe my life to Him
For Jesus is the Lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin
He has shown a light around me
That I could clearly see
If it wasn't for the Lighthouse (tell me)
Where would this ship be?
Everybody that lives about us
Says tear that Lighthouse down
The big ships don't sail this way anymore
There's no use of it standing round
Then my mind goes back to that stormy night
When just in time I saw the light
Yes, the light from that old Lighthouse
That stands up there on the hill
Repeat Chorus (x2)
If it wasn't for the Lighthouse (tell me)
Where would this ship be?

Love the older gospel music

Here's another great Hymn, wonderfully put together in video format with lyrics, by a brother, and fellow CC'er.

"No one ever cared for me like Jesus."

Do you know good Christian hymns in Slovak also?

Blessings.
Oh yes,
we love and always loved music and hymns, especially Baptists ..but Augsburg evangelical too. But Baptist, I mean, when you are sitting there and they sing, you can … its so powerful ..they have so strong singing voices that you can sing loudly as you can, and you wouldn’t even hear yourself, hahaha, so its good for people who actually cannot sing I mean with bad singing voices, it doesn’t matter, nobody will hear you… you have no chance, lol I love Baptists :)

We have lot of translated songs, SK was once part of Dual monarchy (Austria-Hungary) so we have lot of hymns originate from Austria, German, Hungarian, Czech (also shared history for long time period) there is also slovenian impact (Russia, Poland, Ukraine …) We absorbed everything

And of course our composers like Andrášik, Adlof, Bernard, Bednár, Betko older Betko young, Braxatoris, Dostál, Dušek, Hovorka, Horčička, Kana, Kašpar, Kondač, Kučera, Kremský ! I like him, he is still alive..Novotný, Rafajová I like her, Royová M and Royová K (sisters), Rataj Strejc Stupka Synovec Šrámek, Vaculík, Tranovský !, Tuchyňa ..there are so many.. you know, just from sk not to speak CZ…
if I find time to translate something properly and also video in SK on youtube with song I like, I will post …
be blessed

If it is a video belonging to Gaither Music..........it won't play on websites........they block that.....I suppose they believe they are preventing "pirating," but I think they just want folks to purchase the video........ :)

Aled Jones sings How Great Thou Art - YouTube

Hello there,

This is the hymn, 'How Great Thou Art', sung by Aled Jones.

I am Welsh by birth (with a little Irish blood on my Mother's side), but a child of my Father by rebirth. I pray that Aled also knows this rebirth - by God's grace!

How wonderful it would be to know that those who join in the rousing hymns at rugby matches in this land of mine, were singing from the heart. For it is a heart of singing that God requires, not merely the song of our lips.

'And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.'
(Ephesians 5:18-21)

PRAISE GOD!

In Christ Jesus
Chris

I love this:

GOLDEN CITY- CITY OF GOLD

Soon your trials will be over,
Offered up by mercy's hand;
Let Him heal you where you're standing,
A doorway to another land

The sweetest welcome from the Father,
Gathered up and carried home,
We have come to this time of waiting,
Come let us bow before Your throne

Chorus:

We will meet in the golden city, in the new Jerusalem

All our pain and all our tears will be no more.

We will stand with the hosts of heaven and cry, "Holy is the Lamb",

We will worship and adore You ever more

HOLY HOLY HOLY is the Lamb

Never can the powers of darkness,
Neither death nor even life
Let nothing ever separate us,
From the holy love of God
PS: Ms. as_i_am:

The last stanza seems to be based on Romans 8, right? :)

Blessings.

I have tons of favorites but here is one for now:

It's called Heaven's Jubilee

Some glad morning we shall see, Jesus in the air
Coming after you and me, joy is ours to share
What rejoicing there will be, when the saints shall rise
Headed for that jubilee, yonder in the skies

Chorus
Oh what singing, oh what shouting
On that happy morning when we all shall rise
Oh what glory, Hallelujah
When we meet our blessed Savior in the skies

Seems that now I almost see, all the sainted dead
Rising for that jubilee, that is just ahead
In the twinkling of an eye, changed with them to be
All the living saints to fly, to that jubilee.

Chorus
Oh what singing, oh what shouting
On that happy morning when we all shall rise
Oh what glory, Hallelujah
When we meet our blessed Savior in the skies

When with all that heavenly host, we begin to sing
Singing in the Holy Ghost, how the heavens will ring
Millions there will join the song, with them we shall be
Praising Christ through ages long, heaven's jubilee.

Chorus
Oh what singing, oh what shouting
On that happy morning when we all shall rise
Oh what glory, Hallelujah
When we meet our blessed Savior in the skies

Sounds good; and sounds like you enjoy 1 Thess. 4, about the Lord's coming also.

Blessings.
