The "cat" in this saying is the cat o nine tails, a nasty whip like the Roman scourge. The whip gets its name from the number of cords that make it up. No one in their right mind would try to swing a real cat.

Some places people will go to extremes and be making their own groceries instead of buying them…or so it sounds lol.

- Elevator ain’t going all the way up.

Old Ms Jenny sure is nice, I tell ya, but her elevator ain’t going all the way up, and I’m pretty sure she’s short of a couple of stories too.

I have swung a real cat by the tail before. I was a kid and he really pissed me off.

I have since grown up and the cat learned his lesson anyway, so it's no longer an issue.

The fact that you are confessing to that deed is beautiful proof that you have matured since and that you have changed your ways.
I am relieved that you obviously no longer pose a threat to the felines around you.

it's for sure an odd thing to wish someone, but i think that one is superstition. or maybe just regular stition, i'm unsure.

I'm referring to actors, although they are often the targets of loan collectors. When one is about to go out on stage, another will say break a leg.
