Just giving a scriptural example. You're taking my point out of context. You are clearly referring to middle eastern men, things are different over there. I never said men should dictate what we should wear. Just that we should honor God in our dress, as well as our *attitude* (especially toward fellow believers).

this is my point;

these various taboos are found among some jews, Amish, some fundamentalist and so the list goes on

if you are going to start worrying about it there is no end to it

why does nearly ever discussion on here have to end up in a debate with tinges of sarcasm and degrading comments?

if you're going to continue this, i'm shutting this thread down.

Rissa I am not trying to be sarcastic

I am making a valid point that worrying what you should wear is the thin end of the wedge

all those points I made are facts

there are men in this world who tell their women to shave their heads and every other point I made happens TODAY somewhere in the world as well

And I'm making a valid point that I don't want to get hit on b/c what I wear shows more than I should.

And I don't want people thinking, "If she's such a hard-core Christian, then why is she wearing that?" B/c I catch myself thinking that about some of the girls I know; but they will wear things more revealing.

Plus, since you guys mentioned the tight clothing thing, I've been noticing it more and got rid of some of my own clothing. I never thought about it the way some of you put it. I thank you for that.

Just let me help already! There's no harm in me asking for my own benefit.

you see men who tell women what to wear dont stop there

they also tell men - or try to

I have variously been told my beard is wrong or my hair is wrong or I should wear a blue jacket

I am just over sensitive to the whole issue of telling others what to do

I go swimming every day

there are christians who will tell you you should not swim in public and add a whole bunch of other rules

I notice where I swim there are two types of girl - those who go there to swim and those who go there to show off

the show off ones wear brightly coloured bikinis which accentuate their curves

the other ones wear dark coloured shorts and tops

I suppose some are inviting attention and some aren't - I dunno much about "hitting on"

I know a friend who at some stage in her life deliberatley dressed down and put on weight to discourage attention

I really dont understand any of it

all I know for sure is what goes on in my head is my responsibility and it is not for me to tell someone else how to dress

It doesnt seem as if you've gotten a "It is a brave and kind thing you're doing by being conscious of what you wear and wanting to help your brothers out by being modest." so here is one for you: It is a brave and kind thing you're doing by being conscious of what you wear and wanting to be modest. If you dont want to show shoulders or whatever because you feel that would help men out, then do it. I'm pretty sure a guy will notice your effort and thank you for it. Besides, it sounds as if you have a strong conviction about this, and strong convictions shouldnt be swayed by opinions of others.
