Beats me. It has never come up in our conversation. I'm not personally one of their fans, and I have always had other things to talk about besides, "hey God is it okay for other people to listen to those singers?"

And I think you misread that mandate to exhort. REAL christians don't go around berating people. I do however know a few people who have a berating hobby as a means of feeling good about themselves.
Jesus, Paul, James, Peter, Elijah, Moses and others were exhorting and "berating" all the time. Get a clue man.

And if you want to defend rock music, be my guest. Just do not ask me to join with you in your chorus of praises.

Sorry to hear of your addiction problems. Satan the ultimate deceiver has many ways and means to stumble the weak-willed.
It doesn't sound like you've left Rick and roll behind.

Who's defending it? Only rock I like is Christian rock. I like all kinds of that though.

I was just pointing out that you are out of line for disparaging people and implying they are not real Christians because they like Moody Blues.

Get it straight: I never said rock is good. I never said I like it. I never said they should listen to it.

But if you say no christian would (or should) go to a rock concert, you put yourself in a false position. Who in the frosty void are YOU to make that judgment call?

That is my judgement call. Just to be clear.

And I feel nothing less than obliged to say so. Certainly not condemned.

Oh you would surely flee from my insipid presence to the nearest exciting worldly watering hole no doubt about that.

No apologies necessary.
Will you put a hot coal on my tongue to clean me? Surely you have access to such Heavenly resources.

Repeatedly though?
You hate R&R. OK . So move on.

But preaching that and making judgement calls based on your dislike so to claim real Christians should feel as you do is wrong.

God knows who are in his fold. Not you.

That's just how I read it.

In Indonesia, English is known as a language with the most complicated grammar ever
(i mean what other languages have 16 tenses in it?!)

therefore i decided to create a thread where you HAVE TO speak with wrong grammar lol

i know this doesn't make sense, but i thought that it would be interesting :D

Rock and roll pretty much all sounds like different versions of "Hells Bells" to me.

Give me some Augustus Toplady any day.

Here is an exhortation for you to consider.....

Enjoy! And turn up the volume. Waaaaay up. I whistle this entire score in grocery stores everywhere.

By the way, I did say God is everywhere, and that eans concerts too, no matter what the personal taste may be. Come down to earth if you are going to share the true Word.

Give YOU Augustus Toplady any day. This is your subjective determination, not an objective spiritual one.

During the summers and parts of early winters of '69 through 72 I was granted to share the Word in the Rocky Mountains above Boulder, Colo.
The so/called Jesus freak revolution was in full swing all the time I was there.
On one of the occasions I waqs making the rounds with the local ranger up near Brainard lake, where an open air rock concert was to be held.
When we arrived there, the ranger continued on his business, and dI wnt on into the fray to share the wWord with many very eager-to-hear learners. Walking there I did espy several of the folks running around stark naked in the nearby forrest, not surprisng. Ignoring them I continued led by the Spirit to open my moutn and speak.
When this occurred, dI too learned, and it was holy and wonderful, not the entire crowd but the Lord was ther with us.
Be in the world but not of the world. Our Father will take what is not to bring down what is........He always does. Praise God, He is worthy, not we.

I remember this one evangelist who started preaching against the evils of tennis shoes. Weird... Then his own wife stood up and said, "Aw hush Clark. You never did like tennis shoes."

Once upon a time I had to give up video games for a while. They had become all I did with my life. But that was my personal problem, not something evil about video games. (I now play games again, but they are now in their proper place in my life.) But that doesn't mean I should have gone around preaching that everyone should stop playing video games.

Stay with what the Bible says. If you start preaching against what you personally dislike, or even a conviction that you personally have, you are preaching heresy.

Oh. So you were convicted, preached to yourself about your own addiction to video games problem, repented of it (I guess sort of), then curtailed that behavior which you yourself judged as being un-Christian.

But you refuse to preach the same way about the same thing to others?

And then blast me for calling out what is for all intents and purposes un-Christian rock music?

Mmmmkay. Whatever buddy.

Once more, video games aren't inherently evil. Like weapons owned privately, it is what the intent of owning them is which could make that evil. That particular constitutional amendment has been perverted and abased by this generation If this were not true, they would have been just as prolific in the past, they were not.

PS, I am not a fan of video games, nor of toting a gun outside in public.

Really? Well then riddle me this:

Do you actually believe that those who avidly (more properly "worshipfully" IMO) listen to "Dire Straits", "Eric Clapton", "Moody Blues", "Bob Dylan" etc. would EVER care (or even dare) to audition anything Augustus Toplady produced? How about these rock band members themselves? Oh yes lets include YOU on this list.

I think not. In fact I think that if they DID, they would suffer the offense and persecution of the Cross. Which to them is anathema. Suffering for Christ's sake and bearing their cross that is.

Another couple of points:
Is Augustus Toplady saved? Are these rock band members saved?
Who is the theme of everything Augustus Toplady ever wrote and Who is he glorifying? (hint: Almighty God).
Who is the theme of everything these rock bands ever wrote and who are they glorifying? (hint: fallen men, the fallen world and its fallen ruler).
What type of songs are sung in the Bible, both OT and NT? Are there any other kinds whatsoever recorded to have been sung?

You see, beyond and despite all accommodation and excuses, yearning for and exulting in the worldly music issuing from contemporary "rock and roll" bands is nothing more than keeping on foot in the world and the other ostensibly in heaven.

Exo 20:3
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Jesus is not even abiding within the present day modern Laodicean Church. Why so?

Rev 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

There are TONS of "inherently evil" video games out there. Tons. The themes and content cannot possible be considered to be anything other than. And yes, some are more evil than others.
