I know it seems like a silly question, but there's this attitude I see crop up from time to time where someone is judged as being a horrible person and a fake Christian because they are financially well off or straight up rich. It's a bit unfair, but maybe there is a valid reason for being prejudiced against people with money. I'd like to know.

God sees the heart, not the outer stuff, He knows if they keep the good to themselves or share it

Jesus addressed this issue.

There was a rich man who had kept the law fine, even from youth he said, and Jesus said, ''Okay, if you want eternal life, go and give away all your things to the poor and come and follow me.''

That rich man went away sad.

And Jesus said to his disciples, ''It is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.''

Then his disciples wondered who could enter. And Jesus said, ''With men this is impossible, but with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!!''

The Lord gave me a question also, which made me go away sad.

And the Lord has also shown me lately that if anything we hold on to could come between what HE says and what we desire, it will cause offense, as in the parable of the sower.
You cannot serve both, indeed. The Lord showed me that some people, after coveting after money have encompassed themselves with MUCH SORROW!! Why?

Money is more of a bondage than anything, especially concerning the kingdom of God. Judas coveted after money, and even betrayed the Son of God for 30 pieces of silver.

Nevertheless, we should all seek his kingdom and his righteousness. And Jesus will let us know what is blocking us.

May Jesus bless you.

"No one can serve two masters...." Now, the question is do you have wealth, or does wealth have you? God blessed Abraham with "much silver, gold and cattle". If there was something wrong with being rich then God would have said He cursed Abraham with much silver, gold and cattle!!!

I think that its possible to be a good christian, be charitable and financially well off if you put your eyes in Jesus, but i think that professional success is a very different history, to be successful in a job involves to do things that are good according to the world and be valued by the world but the world has very different rules than God, so im not sure a christian can be proffessional succesful except if he start doing what the world wants what may contradict the bible.

Proverbs 30

7 Two things I asked of You,
Do not refuse me before I die:
8 Keep deception and [a]lies far from me,
Give me neither poverty nor riches;
Feed me with the food that is my portion,
9 That I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the LORD?”
Or that I not be in want and steal,
And profane the name of my God.

1 Timothy 6

17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good [m]works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.

WOW! That took me back!!! This was one of my first prayers!! i found many of my prayers in psalms! It was amazing to see.

May Jesus bless you.

It's amazing how many people have the opinion of 'here is verse that may or may not mean anything to me or even apply to the topic except by keywords.'

Truly helpful and inspired. Well done.

I dont think it is as much about wether rich or not, but more about if one is a good steward.
Recall the parable about the master who gave three of his stewards money to keep for him untill His return.
Each was given an amout, but the one who acted in fear, doing nothing with the money is the one that master was angry with and took all from him giving to the others.
For it is not so much about what one has, but how one serves the Lord with what is given.

God bless.

Yes ........God wants us to live in prosperity but we have to follow the precepts in the bible such as paying our thithes .Hebrews 11:6 And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
PSALM 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly; nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
PSALM 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.
PSALM 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, "which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
PSALM 37:3-5,11 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.Malachi 3:10-12 "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. "And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,"Says the LORD of hosts. And all nations will call you blessed For you will be a delightful land,"Says the LORD of hosts.

There are varying issues on the topic as well .......remember jesus told the rich man to give awy evrything and pick up the cross and follow him but the man refuse to give up his riches ........but God blesses us when we release our finances to him it is just an act of sacrifice and reverence and obedience to God because we all know God doesnt want anything but our submission andlove towards him i hope this gave you some clarity on the topic......God bless

As others have said here, I do not think there is anything odd about being financially ok and a Christian. Its not how much money we may have...its what we do with it that matters. God knows our heart and our motives. <><

If God didn't bless some people with riches and all Christians were poor, how could poor people get financial help when it was needed?

I have known people whose work required them to work in the homes of the very wealthy, and one also worked in the homes of the very poor. The person who worked in both said the very wealthy and very poor often had one thing in common, their value system was not based on money. A person who often works with the very well off says they are often wonderful people who have made a great contribution to the world such as the eminent brain surgeon.

Money has nothing to do with one's spirituality. People like Donald Trump, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and many others are rich and are still very good Christian examples for the rest of us.
