Now, concerning "offices" within a congregation...........First thing that must be understood is that those appointed by the vote of the whole congregation to serve in an "office.....Board of Directors......Pulpit Committee.......Deacons.....Worship Leader.....Music Leader......etc......" are subservient to the WHOLE CONGREGATION. They are "servants" of the congregation. They are not dictators of the congregation.
Is this Biblical? Read Acts, Chapters 14 - 15 to see this in action........in Scripture. I'm not going to post the entire Chapter here. Rather, I will "nut shell" it, and - if any doubt, they can read it for themselves.
1) The Church (congregation) at Jerusalem is considered to be the first such body of believers.
2) James is considered to have been the "Pastor" of the church at Jerusalem
3) The Apostles were members of that church/congregation
4) Elders had been appointed and were members of that church/congregation
5) When the events spoken of in Chapters 14 - 15 in Acts, the Pastor, Apostles, Elders, and the WHOLE CONGREGATION came together........debated/discussed what would be taught to the Gentiles.......
They reached a state of "one accord." There is NO DIFFERENCE in this and what occurs in church congregations today. I do not find that to be "foolishness." It is clearly in keeping with Scripture.
God bless
