Maybe the dog had gone wild after being alone so long?

Watched a TV series some years ago where 2 couples had to live like the pioneers for, I think it was, a year. The women quickly discovered it was much easier to be in charge of the kitchen, etc than try to plow fields with a horse.

So the gender roles doesn't surprise me. In fact, it would make a movie more believable.
No, the dog did not go bonkers, as it would have being alone for 1 year. Packanimals cannot be without their packleader for 1 year without snapping. The dog was to zen for the role, that is the problem, in addition to how it was fed and how the poop was disposed. They should have gotten a rescuedog that could not behavehimself or herself at all. A barkeybark dog. Not a cool cucumber as this little zendog. The woman in the series was a wise woman, a rightous woman it seems. And theese spacewomen obviously had instractions to make dinner, and more for the men, to keep them cool and collected on a long journey through many a lightyear. They must logically view astronauts as basic primats also, when sending them out.
