Matthew 16:18 Jesus said: " I will build MY church.
It is written: The churches (assemblies) of
Christ salute you"(Rom. 16:16)
Christ added me to His church in 1974
I am a member of the church of
CHRIST

Started Baptist as a child..... joined the CoC as an adult, and received a sterling Bible Education there for 12 years.... but then my eyes were opened to there being "church" beyond the confines of a building, and eventually found The Vineyard Fellowship about 6 years ago.

I grew up in the catholic faith
but was never really comfortable and after studying the scriptures..at 19 left them and became a Mormon.
I studied with them for 10 years and realized I was not where GOD wanted me.
I met some members of the church of Christ and after a diligent study came to understand that is where GOD wanted me.

I HEARD the word of God,
BELIEVED what the word presented,
REPENTED of my sinful life,
CONFESSED Christ to be the son of GOD,
was BAPTIZED FOR the REMISSION of my sins,
and now am spending my life ABIDING with Him......
to GOD be all the glory.

The BIBLE says:

Simple Biblical Plan of Salvation:

GRACE of God (Eph. 2:4-5}….
HEAR the word of God (Rom. 10:17)
BELIEVE the word of God (John 3:16..Mark 16:16)
BLOOD of Christ (Romans 5:9-10)
REPENT (Lk. 13:3-5/Acts 17:30)
CONFESS Christ (1 Jn. 4:3..Mtt. 10:32-33..Lk. 12:8-9)
Be
BAPTIZED for remission of sins (Acts 2:38..Acts 22:16..1 Pet. 3:21..Mk. 16:16..Rom. 6:3-5..Col. 2:12).
Remain OBEDIENT (Heb. 5:9)
ENDURING to the end. (Rev. 2:10
)

Just some things to ponder....have a blessed day

I worship God as part of Jesus' flock. (Don't we all?) :)

I grew up Baptist (American Baptist). I've attended a number of churches over the years, including being a member of the Presbyterian church and the Methodist Church (aka, Methiodest). I belong to a Congregationalist Church now.

Howdy Church of Christ. I'm Pentecostal. Yup, full-gospel, one God, Jesus-name-baptizing, apostolic Pentecostal.

I also bake sourdough bread for myself and people around me who want a loaf, I make soundtracks for songs I want to sing at church and I have an australian shepherd who I think is smarter than I am.

Welcome to the forum shadowPal. It's a peaceable place to hang out and chat, especially the miscellaneous and singles forums.

hub and I are 'homers', we wait on Jesus to guide us into what ever 'fellowship'
He decides for us...no 'worldly names or desires to 'hook-up with divisions',
we just desire to be who He wants us to be, not what we were
'brought-up-led to believe what someone else told us we had to be'
in order to be a 'real christian'...

let The Holy Spirit be your Guide, and not 'man'...Christ has already given us
His rules and regulations, may we follow Him always, and not the ways of this
fallen-world...

It seems to that your first two comments, especially the first, connotes your church as thee church.
Exclusivity is also common with The Church of Christ.

Just out of curiosity, what's your denmoination or do you have one?

I'm Presbyterian (PCA). I've been in quite a few different churches, but the Presbyterians made the best case for their practices from the Bible to my understanding.

This is not a debate topic.
I am not a member of any denomination.. But i guess i could be described as a Bible believing Christian who is very similar to a Protestant.. Yes i know there is a wide variety of different protestant denominations..

Well there's two factors here. First factor is, we see a lot of Church of Christ folks come through here that really do have the "our church is the only REAL church and all of you are sadly misguided, so I'm here to show you sinners the true way" attitude. If somebody reads your first post in this thread with that history in mind, it can be easy to misinterpret what you said.

Second factor, there are some people in this forum who are always eager to jump on anybody they think might be judgmental. Like they jumped on you.

Best thing to do is just ignore it. The alternative is to take the bait and start a big argument, and that never ends well.

I heard a funny story the other day!

There is an island in the pacific. I have forgotten which and which language was spoken there. One major force of developing a written language, has been missionaries wanting to spread the Word. So also on this island. And they were blessed with two groups of missionaries: 7th day Adventists and Methodists. And they both translated the gospel into their spoken language, and created a written system. Therefore the tiny island has now two written standards for their language, and they should now try to decide which is going to get the official status and be taught in schools. Do they choose the Methodist's or the Adventist's? They ended up making a third in an effort to unite the people across the denominations.

Yup. And that is how we wound up with so many different competing standards for so many different things.

The number of audio encoding standards alone (mp3, m4a, flac, ogg vorbis, ape, wma, aac...) can make your head swim.

So.... eh.... that's how 12 languages became 6000?

A while back I took an Internet quiz which was supposed to tell me which denomination I should belong to. It was kind of interesting and the results were not what I expected.
