Out of towners often refer to people from my town as JAFAs which can be either endearing or insulting. Depending on what they think the F word is. (Friendly)

But perhaps more close to home is when people who live in the same town just want to just denigrate your patch. Although of course west is best, people that arent westies want to say were all criminals and druggies and its not safe to live here.

But, as far as I know, no westies denigrate other areas. And I have pointed out that in all the years living here, no burglaries, but my bros whove live in the other part of town, had their car broken into in their own driveway and had to install a home alarm. And his street is full of automatic gates. Possibly because in a richer area, theres more to steal lol.

Of course, I am not really keen to talk about crime in general conversation. Id rather say well hows the weather today than go over the latest crimes in the paper. But some people they just want to announce every car crash and stabbing and gloat that it didnt happen in their area for some strange reason.

I think it depends on if I agree with what they say 🤣 Like if someone said my city was boring or stupid I’d probably get annoyed, but I’ve heard people comment about the level of snobbery around here...and they’re right. So I don’t get too bothered about them stating the obvious.

Hmm true maybe an insult is an insult because you dont believe what the other person is saying is true. Ie, they are wrong!

Which is why blasphemy of the holy spirit is so unforgiveable. Jesus would say you can insult me, you can insult men, but if you insult the Holy Spirit, thats just beyond the pale.

I think the reason why it riled him and hurt so much is its attributing evil to what is holy and good. A home that has nutured you and that you grew up in, a place where all your family and closests friends live, how can anyone insult that place you love? God put you here and it was by his design.
