My answer to that is we have only a small account of what was spoken by Christ and the apostles. Jesus walked with the disciples for three years and do you really think that all of what they talked about is written in the bible? The Spirit of God is a discerner of good and evil. Strong meat is for those who by practice have learned to discern both good from evil.
I think that an argument from silence is not going to deter those who under grace may wish to use particular witness means to promote a Biblical sentiment - for which they and not others take responsibility. Romans 14 is relevant here.

God looks at the heart and it's intentions. I try to avoid endless disputes, because they can grieve the Holy Spirit. If you feel the desire to use a tattoo as a witness, then that is between you and The Lord. I just choose to not agree with them because of my own convictions. Hope you the best and I'm moving on from this discussion. Enjoy your night:)

Monica: Never say never - especially about a design that may be faith based...
while i don't believe in saying "never" to anything, it'd have to be a pretty persuasive person to convince me. at this point.

i'm content with the state of my inkless condition.

but i can certainly imagine possibly one or two circumstances that i might *consider*.

Monica:

You see, it's not remotely about others persuading you.

Rather, if it even happens at all, it's entirely a matter of your own empathy with the design that the needle jabs serve you. It's from start to finish - 100% - a matter of your own personal exhilaration with the joy of a testimony design.

That really is entirely it!

Blessings.

God knows my heart, and the desire I have for others to walk in the light and not be blinded be the world and and it's lies. Do not confuse the confidence that I have in the Lord Jesus Christ, with boasting of my own self. You are judging me when you do not even know me. I have judged no one, or accused anyone, but simply stated the truth regarding the body and what is pleasing unto our heavenly Father. I have also prayed for others to see the truth, where as the self righteous pharisee made judgement towards them. Just like what you have done towards me.

To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 1 Corinthians 12:8

At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. Luke 10:21

Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; 1 Corinthians 2:6
I did not judge you. Understand what judging is before you accuse others of it. The fact is you have made many posts commenting on how righteous you are. It's great you don't have tattoos. I don't either, but I also dont rub it in others faces or tell them how wrong they are for having them. I know many people with tattoos who are wonderful Christians. I know many people who came to Christ AFTER getting tattooed. Are they less righteous? Where in the bible does it say personal appearance determines one's salvation? It is really sad that people cannot look past a person's physical characteristics to see their heart.
So while you are praising God you don't have a tattoo there is another person out there who is begging God for forgiveness because they sin.

Ms. Elizabeth619: Also some people get tattooed after being converted, being motivated to get faith based ink that is proven to be an effective conversation-starter in witness.

It used to be a man thing but now many Christian women do it, too.

"Your body is a temple" doesn't only apply to making marking on the body.

Anyone who overeats isn't respecting god's temple. Who likes sodas? Candy or other junk food? Who takes complete care of their bodies? Who here may have a drink or two and possible drink a little too much at times? Is that respecting the temple?

Before one judges another for tattoos they may need to make sure they're not defiling their own bodies in different ways.

Could be. I am not personally a fan of tattoos, but I don't judge anyone who gets them. I jsut don't like needles lol.
I do know that when you are working inner city ministries, jails, ect that a person that is casually dressed and tattooed may be received better than someone in a coat and tie

Ms. Elizabeth: Well, you obviously don't work yourself in an inner city ministry. :) (which is fine.)

You're right, of course. (Numbing creams do work wonders in relation to needles.)

Ms. Elizabeth: I think it's not only a matter of inward health, but of outward pragmatism and whether they are proven to be an efficient way of getting into witness discussions.

Blessings.

The problem with the internet is people can read words and make an assumption about the way someone is without actually knowing their heart or their intentions. Words can be misinterpreted. I really could care less of your opinion of me. It means nothing to me and I assure you I won't lose any sleep over your words. I will continue to have faith and praise God who saved me and if that offends you that's your problem. I have a deep love for people and God knows this. He sees my heart. End of discussion.

You're right, which is why your following comments are kind of funny.

I really could care less of your opinion of me.
I don't have an opinion on YOU. I don't know you. My opinion was that your ACTIONS were a little too self righteous. Of course you are right that "people can read words and make an assumption...."
It means nothing to me and I assure you I won't lose any sleep over your words.
I don't believe I said anything that would cause you to lose sleep anyway so why even say something like that?
I will continue to have faith and praise God who saved me and if that offends you that's your problem.
Where did I say praising God is offensive? Is that what you got out of my posts? I founf issue with how you said things and suddenly I am offended that you praise God? Really? Nice misinterpretation you have there.
I have a deep love for people and God knows this. He sees my heart. End of discussion.
If you weren't "bothered" by what I said then why are you suddenly defensive? I never said you didn't have love for people or God.

Try to understand this.... A person's appearance does not determine whether they're a Christian. Your comments did seem rather self righteous. There very well may have been a few people who looked at this thread who had tattoos, and now suddenly feel they have permanent markings of sin on their bodies. You were thanking God for not having tattoos and referred to others as "dull". I happen to know one lady who left this forum because of others condemnation that she had a few tattoos. She was kind, compassionate, and a Christian. She announced she had ink and people shunned her. All I was saying to you is when you are praising God make sure you are not hurting others in the process.
