I had a good time at the range. I also noted that when I don't go as often as I should, my ability suffers.

This is with my concealed carry 9mm, at 50 ft.

it is a perishable skill, we all need to schedule in more range time, thank you for the report.
I think this is for right handed shooters, is the pt a small grip for you?
most handgun shots on people are within 25 ft, that will help tighten the group.

Yes... I've heard statistics that say most gunfights are within 7 yards. I'm better at that range.

My eyesight has gotten bad enough that the sights are slightly blurry without my reading glasses on. That doesn't help when trying to shoot tight groups.

If I wear my glasses, I can see the sights really well, but the target blurs out more....

At 7 yards or less, this is not much of a problem. Beyond that, it gets progressively worse.

I wonder if we will get to pursue the shooting sports in the next life?
Our vision will be better and the effects of gravity and age will be gone.

LOL.... I imagine our perspective about what is "enjoyable" will be drastically different when living with God...

ok, I guess that is right. We will experience joy, the joy He always intended for us.
From your target it looks like if the perpetrator is right handed, and most are, you will get him out of commission. may you never need to find out.
I believe Franklin Graham was a shooter at one time, I don't know about now.

At 20 feet practicing rapid draw, point, shoot is by far better than practicing aimed firing since most defensive shoot scenarios at short range will not allow the time to properly aim.

I worked with a veteran who was taught instinctive shooting with the rangers, that would seem very relevant
to this type of event. He was very confidant that he and his fellows would hit what they aimed at, 3 1/2 years of combat
in WW2.

Yes, that is most likely correct. Point shooting is very good, close up... but you have to practice it a LOT, to get the muscle memory thing going, and the eye/hand connection made.

Many disciplines are similar... shooting a recurve or a stick bow instinctively is the same way... eye/hand.

There have been shooters who are phenomenal at that... the late Bill Jordan comes to mind. He would do shooting demonstrations, using wax in the place of bullets, and he would fast draw from the regulation Border Patrol holster, and hit aspirin tablets, in less than 1 second.

I probably couldn't hit an aspirin factory that fast....

Yes... that was some random hollowpoint ammo that I had left over from years back. I was just curious where they would print, and I had already messed up the bull... so I used the bottom edge of the target as my aiming point. I fired 4 shots, and pulled one of them down below the paper, I think.

I'll never win any contests... but I have fun with it.

the grip is just a tad small, but it's not bad. I just have to work on my pulling the trigger straight back, instead of curling it back, which pushes the groups to the left a little bit.

Although, 3" left would still be effective at 3-7 yards, I imagine.

YAY PT 111. I have one also. It is my carry gun and I like it a lot.

After the Las Vegas shooting, carrying concealed makes more sense.

Yes, it does. Even though in that scenario, a concealed handgun would have made no difference.... nothing short of a scoped sniper rifle with infrared would have helped.

But it serves to emphasize the fact that there are some seriously crazy people running around out there, along with the truly evil people. I will likely start carrying more frequently. I haven't carried a lot since I got my LTC, but I probably will increase that.

The PT111 is an ideal carry handgun. Mine has gone through about a thousand rounds with zero hiccups. I like it a lot.

There are so many great lubes out there, I have recently stated using
some Castrol 5-50 synthetic, and pro gold for grease on slides and cylinder extractors.

Lately I've been using Ballistol in very small amounts. It is a really good lube, but it literally smells like dog vomit. I have several other lubes I use, RemOil, and some others I can't remember the names of right now.

I use any lubes very sparingly, though. I could probably double the amount I use with no ill effects.

Thanks... I enjoy shooting both of them. The full sized is a little easier to control.. The 60+ year old vision is the biggest limiting factor, I think.
