I suppose Texas used to be its own country so everyone speaks differently

everyone...y'all
poker....texas hold'em poker
mass shooting.....texas chainsaw massacre
fire...waco
KFC....texas chicken
nachos.....tex mex
sniper.....drive-by shooting
it's not texas chicken........it's Yardbird

A couple of the others appear to be a wee bit critical of Texas, Texans....... Hope you didn't mean them that way....

The rim of a wheel is a part of the wheel itself - the outer part upon which a tire is mounted.

my friend said when she told australians she was going to the dairy, they thought she meant the farm.

Dairy = grocers/convenience store/7-11

makes sense

In the U.S., to say "going to the dairy" would in fact mean "the farm" - because 'the dairy' is where the milk is taken from the cow. However, if you said (or implied) 'the dairy area/department/section/etc.' of a store - well, that is what that would mean.

in nz the dairy is its own store where you buy milk, eggs and bread. It was allowed to open when all the other shops would be closed, 7 days a week and even on public holidays.

this is because Nzers cannot live without their fresh milk. Or rather the baby boomers couldnt.

I was talking to this american woman, at a retail store i worked, she said pass me the chips please. I said its not chips, its crisps. She smiled and i laughed afterwards but it made my day. I love her, and i love american women.
