New canvas shoes. A bottle of cooking oil. Splat!

The shoes aren't tennis shoes. They're semi-orthopedic, and they can't go through the washer.

Any idea how to remove oil? They're only a couple of weeks old, and he has to wear shoes all the time.

Perhaps you can spread dishwasher detergent on them, let soak a few hours, rinse with water and then air dry.

If they are white and he doesn't mind having colored ones, you could try dying them something like navy blue or black.

Reminds me of an ancient Chinese saying
"If you want to forget your troubles, wear a pair of too tight shoes"
