Now he's gone way past Mr. and Mrs Driesdale on the social ladder, probably got proud and identifies with big $ than middle Americans.
I've been around that type.

This is one of the best scenes I've ever heard in a comedy. There's so much truth here. Jed's a humble common man who never seemed the least bit covetous.
This is the perfect illustration of 1 Timothy6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

You know I'm a West Virginian and I know a lot of folks don't like the hillbilly reputation. The US media always makes fun of our state. I just own it; although I've always identified as a Mountaineer. . Then I remember my old favorites like Dudley Doright who was a Mounty. So you all have Mounties and we have Mountaineers. We have hillbillies and you all have Red Green. We like Canadian country folks.
I think Vance is from Ohio.
West Virginians laugh when we hear someone from Ohio say they have hillbillies.
