Yes, otherwise the db doesn't know what it will store.

I would do that yes. If you make a disgn error (eg, you want to store a postal 4 digit code, but you assign VARCHAR(2) to it), you'll regret that at runtime. If you draw that in your UML diagram, you would notice that in advance...

...wonder what the exams will be like. Only know there will be some draing of diagrams and some about planning (so probably waterfall vs Iterative or RUP)
