This is not a catholic site. Its a Christian site. Even the site owners official policy is that catholocism is not part of Christianity. I for one get tired of seeing catholic posts on here.
So, Christianity started at the Reformation? Because there was only one church- the catholic church, before Luther came around.

What's interesting to me, with all the pope bashing, much like the Obama bashing is that it's all self serving.

How do you know God's relationship with the Pope or Obama? or any of the other leaders out there.

The Pope is a guy that does massive amounts of prayer daily to God. Yet people here sit in judgement simply because they don't like Catholics or because their local Christian community hates Catholics?

Think before you do this.

You could be bashing and criticising someone that God loves dearly.

Will you be called to account for this behaviour?
I used to just love bashing on political and religious leaders, however with the recent political climate and everything my obama bashing did not last long before I felt God convicting me of it. You're right, we don't have a clue what another persons relationship with God is, especially when it's someone we don't actually know. To go along with that, even if they didn't know God, and their actions were against all things God, that is still not a licence to bash. I listen to a lot of loud and crazy music, and a lot of the non-christian bands have some very blatantly anti-christian anti-God lyrics, but whenever I read lyrics like that my heart just breaks for them.

I feel terrible for people who have know better outlook on life than living for themselves, and having no real purpose other than just living itself. I just want to wrap them in a hug and tell them there is so much more to life.

Thanks for bringing this to peoples attention.

Seriously? Look at early Roman Catholicism, the beliefs and customs were not so far removed from modern day Christianity. What exactly makes it straight from the pit of Hell? The fact that their bible has a few extra books? None of which are historically inaccurate, and two of which are quoted in the christian bible, mind you. Is it because they call the Holy Spirit the Holy Ghost? Are we really going to freak out over a single word exchange?

I almost did go catholic at one point but didn't agree with the idea of asking Mary and the saints to intercede our prayers for us, but I would hardly call that false doctrination straight from the pit of hell, and I highly doubt they are going to be condemned to Hell for it.

Do they believe in God? Yes. Do they believe Jesus is God's son? Yes. Do they believe in God's grace? Yes. I fail to see which part of this comes from Hell.

I have far more issues with Greek Orthodox than I do with Roman Catholicism. The former are the One True Church, eh? How come so many of their core beliefs aren't biblical?

"Holy Ghost" is used more than 80 times in the KJV New Testament. More than 10 of these times it is used by Jesus.

I was just referring to what someone said earlier on the thread. The fact is much, not all, of catholic doctrine is biblical, and not from the pit of hell.

Sometimes I shoot responses before fully thinking about them to, so thank you for correcting me.

Because many things in the catholic church aren't in the bible, I don't remember jesus saying follow the pope
Regarding the pope (or in latin 'papa' simply meaning, 'father'), Catholic's emphasize on this verse: “You are Peter”—a Greek word which means “rock”—“and upon this rock I will build my Church. And the gates of Hell will not prevail against it.” They view peter as the first pope. In Catholicism, there is a term known as Apostolic Succession, meaning that from Peter and the first apostles to present day, there is a unbroken line of leaders in the church. Catholics do not worship the pope, they do not replace him for Jesus. The pope is meant to be the spiritual head and symbol of unity of Christendom, stemming from St. Peter.

Catholics do not worship Mary. God alone is worshiped. Catholic's do not offer a mass to Mary or the saints. Catholic's do not worship the saints- the venerate them for the excellence they attained in living a life in imitation of Christ. The are not seen as divine and nothing is taken away from the glory of God.

Some people need to get off of their evangelical, protestant high horses here, and learn a bit about early Christian history before making remarks like Catholicism is straight from the pit of hell, it just exposes your ignorance.

I wasn't correcting you, I was just trying to add some clarity. :)

Throughout the centuries of Rome's existence, the popes have regularly claimed to be divine. As the supposed successor of Peter, the Pope claims infallibility, the position of God on Earth, and ability to judge and excommunicate angels, this is anti-christ and therefore is straight from the pit of hell, don't sugar coat it or over complicate it please.

The church was meant to be one body- the body of Christ. Anti-Catholicism and pope-bashing fueled by ignorance, hate and lack of education is creating an even greater schism in the body.

That's ok because the evil satanic Roman catholic church is not part of the body :)

Even though Catholicism is horrible, I don't think it's fair to say that all Catholics are not "Christian". They're just misled is all.
