I don't pray first thing in the morning. I know alot of people do. They read their bible and pray, and that is great. I can read some bible in the morning, I have no problem with that. But When it comes to praying first thing in the morning, I can't do it. I'm not awake, alert, I'm a zombie. Does anyone else have this issue? When do you feel best to pray? Where? How?

I don't like to limit praying to any specific time of day, I think you should pray anytime you feel you want/need to. And I'm so with you on mornings, I'll pray sometimes in the morning and I'm like doing that whole almost falling back asleep thing while praying.

Glad I'm not the only one. If I close my eyes in the morning you might as well put a pillow under my head cause I'm gonna start snoring!:p

My best time is right after God deals with me about something. Many times it's sad, because of the issues, but still I enjoy it in the end because those times are like two-way communications with the Lord. And I also expect results, because He led me in that direction to get the result from me. Since God started it, I know He will finish it.:)

I pray all day. Not literally ALL day, really, just any time throughout the day that I think about it, or need to stop a train of thought/feeling that is going nowhere good. Or when I need to calm the heck down and reassess my actions.

I also try to remember to pray every night before bed, but since I am actually IN bed by the time I remember, I usually fall asleep before I get very far with that.

I'm not very good about setting aside a specific quiet time to talk to God, but then I also never really actually END a prayer, so it's kind of like I'm leaving the lines of communication open all the time.

Or I'm just really, really forgetful and God could be up there waiting for me to say 'amen' from a prayer I started two months ago.

24-7-365, the Lord hears the prayers of the righteious, its an ongoing communication we should have with our father, who hears the cry of the truly repentented soul!

@ Jinx, I'm not a morning person either. If I prayed in the morning, I'd fall asleep in the middle of it, lol.

I tend to feel more spiritually receptive at night than any other time of day, so I usually pray then. All the thoughts of the day have built up and I'm ready to let go then. Also, I'm a night owl and an insomniac so it kinda fits. :p

Honestly i don't have to be awake to pray to him, its just talking to him that's all. I do this all day everyday, not certain times. I talk to him about all sorts of things not just things i want

This is where I struggled most when I came to the Lord. I used to think praying was asking God for the things we want and the promises we were willing to make to get them. I was never taught about prayer. I know now it's about talking to God, having a relationship with Him, so I talk to Him throughout the day. I thank Him when a great song comes on the radio. I ask for wisdom to find the right words when I need them. I ask Him to use me to bless others. Most of all I ask God to let His will be known to me, to show me what He wants of me, if I'm on the right path.

A friend gave me a prayer shawl. It is made and blessed in Israel, made of the nicest wool with the tassels at the corners told of in the OT. It is very Jewish. I let only one other person touch it when she needed help badly. I explained to her how precious it was to me, how she must respect it, it was to help her be alone with God. I told her how to put it on over her head, and then listen as God spoke to her. She said oh, that is POWERFUL, and ran home. She had been almost suicidal, she has never felt that way again.

Certainly, this shawl has no magic to it, the shawl in itself does nothing. But as I sit under it I can imagine being in a room with just the Lord and me.

pray frequently through out the day, expecually when someone or something crosses your mind but giving thanks for food, thing that you have, etc is always a good idea.

My pastor was saying basically the same thing this morning about always praising HIM, always giving thanks. if we do this then when trouble comes our way we know where we stand!

Occasionally...hmmm...actually, quite often I wake up around 2-3 AM wide awake with a need to pray. About what I am not always sure. I just go lay on the couch and start praying and talking to Him. Sometimes there is a definite thing. It might be for my church leadership and issues. Often it is to seek guidance to what I am supposed to do after ministry training is over. Right now I still do not know. I just tell Him if He will be with me then I will do whatever it is that He asks of me...whether I like it or not.

I've prayed in my dreams before, then I would wake up and have a hard time trying to figure out if it was real or not.
