Just because this site has "Christian" in the name doesn't mean everyone here is a Christian. It doesn't even mean ANYONE using the site is a Christian, for that matter.

It'll happen to you sooner or later, if you bother to share any personal convictions of any kind. I asked a question about God speaking the way he did in the OT and was basically called an atheist.....for asking a question. Because that's definitely what makes an atheist.
One time, bro, I was warned by the Kirk to come to the Sabbath meeting stone cold sober and to gird myself for a baptism of fire. I thought to myself, dear God! Why? So as innocently as I could muster, seeing as I was in such short commodity of innocence, I asked, "Why Moderator?"

He told me that Black Rod was preaching and there wasn't to be any miscreant affectations to be garnered to the shame of the church.

So that Sabbath I sat rather nervously as Black Rod strode into the pulpit - almost as if he were the very hand of God. No more stern a Calvinist have I ever seen than Black Rod.

Just as he was opening his scroll to begin his lecture - I cried out - "you are an atheist."

He flashed a fearsome look of unfathomable rudeness around the church and cried out in a roar, Who spoke that blasphemy?"

And the entire congregation pointed to me and with a single voice cried out, "he did, the one in the steel hat."

Thats the thing about rudeness, bro, its best drank in flagons. Amen

Maybe they did a typo and they were meaning you were a Theist not an atheist.

?!

When someone ask a question like 'Are you there God? Its me, Margaret'

Its not like Margaret is questioning God's existence. She's just checking if He's available. He's very busy you know. Looking after the entire universe and all.

I just ignore the rude ones with the ' ignore' button.
The title of this thread should really be "Why are SOME people on this site so rude?" So the title itself triggered a negative response because it was not accurate and misrepresented the site. As to the "ignore" button, I never use it and it is not even necessary. If you wish to ignore something, you simply move on.

Here's a question: Why are some people on this thread so critical about the question in the first place? If one person feels like people in general are rude on this site, yes we should encourage him that not everyone is that way, but we should also be called to pay attention to our own tone so that we don't come across that way. Christians should be respectful of each other's viewpoints. Yes, discuss where and why you disagree, but don't be hateful about it. And yes, I've seen Christians being hateful to other Christians on this site, mainly about doctrinal issues or issues of interpretation. I'm all about discussing where we disagree and backing it up with scripture, but never about condemnation of others.

Yes. But surely we ought be able to condition ourselves not to be so thin skinned/so easily offended, too.

Why are people on this site so rude?

It's an easy mistake to make, sister, but everyone on this site is not rude. In fact some brethren are especially gifted in not being rude - yet may be so in order to promote an ill effect - which seeing they are in it themselves - they may cause unfathomable harm by words which attend to doctrines of demons and remove from the ministry of the word - yet in almost every appearance is a claim to true ministry of the word of God.

Well this thread author is not in that effect - yet his words are mistaken for all of that - because they are wrong. Not everyone on this forum is rude - and so of those who are not rude - yet are deceived by those who are respectable - it becomes a claim to the love of God - to love as God loves. When the rudeness of some is in truth a reasonable warning to others to beware the doctrines of devils.

The rest of what you said begins with a concern for rudeness then moves to a need for respectfulness and ends by admonishing condemnation. That is the spirit of the question in the thread. Another effect and one more easily overlooked. But in genera to condemn false doctrine is almost impossible to separate from the one propagating it - even when you do not openly act rudely to the brother or sister whose doctrine you are condemning. Rudeness in the thread meaning is almost a worthless meaning and fruitless thing to say.

It was a rhetorical question. I was just putting out some points to think about.

I think sometimes when people are right, it can be interpreted as being rude by people who are wrong, because the ones who are wrong find it rude that someone disagrees with them. On this site, a lot of people think they are right.

Mostly boredom. A bit of self righteousness perhaps. Some irritation because it was (intentionally or accidentally) phrased to condemn the whole forum membership instead of just the rude part. One or all of these, depending on the poster in question.

But when you're wrong I have to make you ADMIT you're wrong! It's no good unless I make you say it!

It was an excellent point :) OP did not say all people were rude, but some chose to read it that way. The fault is theirs.

This statement is generic:
Why are people on this site so rude?

It gives the impression that all people are "so rude". That is why I said that the word "some" should have been included.

The question neither infers nor implies all.

I don't get it. We're supposed to be Christians. But I see so much hate and negativity and sarcasm and criticism. What gives?
Rude people are everywhere. I guess you have to take them like you would a grain of salt. First couple days when I was on here, someone was being rude and obnoxious. I just bit my tongue and ignored them after realizing I was just feeding them with responses.

I am rude because I am weary and do not have much time seeing as the Lord God has set his face against my land and the shameful generations which turned their backs to him.

It’s all good. I’m deleting my account once I give the heads up to the non-hateful people on here. They got what they wanted.

Your Christlike hate and rudeness have won the day. I’ll be leaving and you can find someone else to unload your bitterness upon. I have no earthly idea what I ever did to you. God willing you find peace in your life from whatever it is that has upset you. Take care.
