I don't get it. We're supposed to be Christians. But I see so much hate and negativity and sarcasm and criticism. What gives?

I really am coming more and more to realize most who claim to be Christian aren't really Christian.:coffee:

if you are referring to my comment on your other Thread, read the response I posted.

IMO, your Thread Original Post was "rude".

See, I would ask: Why do people Author Threads posing questions in their OP without offering any of their personal thoughts/ideas in that OP? Should the Author NOT first offer what they think/believe, before asking others to post what they think/believe?

You advocate anarchy, but want to tell people how they should act? Um... That's not how anarchy works. With anarchy you have to be very big and strong to make other people act how you want them to act. If your avatar is your actual photo, other people would be making you act the way they want you to act.

Just be glad this forum is NOT anarchist. We have moderators to kick out the real rude people. The rudeness that is left is very low, background rudeness, far less than I deal with every day at work, surrounded by teenagers.

Shoot, it's less rude here than at church when they can't agree on the new carpet color. :p

Thank you moderators!

Jesus taught us all how we should act, His guidance is not anarchy.

Well my longstanding theory goes something like: those Christians who are healthy and solid enough to get along in community with people in the real world generally prefer real world interactions and do most of their interacting there. Those who aren't come around online communities and complain about how horrible all the churches and Christians are for rejecting them and usually come across as believing that they believe themselves to be the only one to have discovered "true" Christianity and anyone who disagrees with them isn't really a Christian.

But you gotta remember that many of the people who are most active in such an online Christian forum are the ones who couldn't get along well in church with other real life people.

Been here for almost two years and I don't want to use this as an opportunity to speak negatively about people, but the reality can't be ignored either. There's a lot of people here who are retired, bored, and/or have too much time on their hands. They're a bit cantankerous and yes many of them are Pharisees. It's entertainment to them to push the boundaries of social etiquette and tiptoe around the message board sowing seeds of strife. Yes it does drive many people away from this board. At any given time there are ~50-60 actively logged in members here and it's normally the same crowd. This site is kept afloat by these same people who keep it down.

There are genuine Christians and there are “nominal” Christians. There are genuine believers and there are make believers.

Jesus commanded the 12 to heal, cleanse, cast out, preach, we have pretty much changed it to going someplace to hear someone talk about Him for a hour once a week and not how to walk with Him as we are required.:coffee:

I am promptly stealing that term.

Nominal Christian: A Christian in the good times, when everything is rosy and Christianity is popular among the masses.

Jesus spoke of how in these days most would have "an outward form of godliness denying the power thereof". I believe this is what brother Dan has mentioned with the "nominal Christian" reference, where most know a little "about" Him but are not in vital relationship with Him.
Jesus was also VERY clear that some would do signs and wonders in His name, yet He knew them not.(y):):coffee:

You could use the word ‘nominal’ or ‘pseudo’ Christian.

Nah. Pseudo is outright fake. Nominal actually thinks he's a Christian until it becomes unpopular and he changes his mind.

In my own experience this was a bigger problem before. Not that I’m saying it isn’t anymore, but that’s my personal experience. If people are rude I put them on ignore.

PS, for those of you sending me hateful stuff, I'm just gonna put you on ignore so you can type into the wind. I don't have time for your mess, nor the inclination to deal with it.

OP, I can relate. People have been hurtful to me on this site before. So I definitely know how you feel.

I think, no matter where you go, (on the Internet or in real life) there's going to be a fair share of rude/unkind people. But on the bright side....there's plenty of nice people here too. I'm sure of it.

Sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad, you know? Or maybe we need the bad to further appreciate the good we come across....if that makes sense.

Hope that helps. 🙂
