I'm going to share something that was painful for me. At my former church many years ago, it was Mothers Day, a month before I had a miscarriage, my heart was broken, I was in deep pain. My Husband was at work at couldn't come with me. I walked through the door and saw they were passing out carnations to the Mothers. Many of the members knew I had a miscarriage. I sat there in that pew no carnation, no one saying, hey this day must be tough for you, nothing. Then a 10 year old girl came up to me and said, here Miss Jen and gave me a huge hug and a flower. That touched my heart in so many ways. That kid knew I need someone to reach out to me. Yeah more than flowers, more than coffee bars, not legalistic, reach out when you know someone is hurting, it's not always easy but do it anyway.
