Thank you and I appreciate your reply. I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist for 16 years and about 16 different meds. There is no cure for seeing the world for what it is. But I sincerely appreciate your concern

Sometimes I have anxiety. I find it helps to avoid certain situations, like crowded places and large queues, anything that puts me under excessive pressure, to be prepared. When travelling I'm always there in good time, being under time pressure makes me panic. To pray beforehand about anything that could be stressful. To trust in God, to remember he is in control. God Bless You :)

Sometimes I have anxiety. I find it helps to avoid certain situations,
I worked with people who had challenging behaviour; for about twenty years. I have lost count of the number of times I have been punched, kicked, had things thrown at me, plus all the verbal abuse.

I came to terms with this by saying to myself, I would rather be hit, than live in fear of being hit. When I was hit, the physical pain lasted for a day or so. If I lived in fear of being hit, this mental fear could last weeks, months or years. I found that by continually confronting my fears, and accepting it was something I could endure, helped me to live in peace with all the conflict.

Of course, I would rather not be hit. When you support these guys, you often had to stand next to them, so the job makes you a target. Sadly, I witnessed a number of staff, who after they had been hit, would often go sick and then leave.

I’d encourage you to look into a Christian based book called Victory over the darkness- or Another book called Letting Go of fear by Neil T Anderson. He also endorses a Christian application of Cognitive Behavior Therapy- It’s called steps to freedom in Christ and it’s basically inviting Jesus into re-training your brain to accept Gods truth of Your identity in Jesus Christ and rejecting the negative thoughts. It isn’t quick or easy but It is effective when done thoroughly and you are fully committed to it. It’s A practical application of these scriptures.

Totally agree with you, BUT......

You do have choices in how you respond to events that happen in your life.

In 2011 I had tests done for cancer, about a month later the doctor phoned and said he urgently wanted to see me, it was non – Hodgkin Lymphoma. This was a name I recognised, our friend had this cancer, and died a few months later.

Being told I had cancer was out of my hands, there was nothing I could do about it. But I still had choices; I could dictate how the cancer was going to affect my mind and my ability to cope with the news. If I had six months to live, I wanted to live in peace for six months.

A few minutes after putting the phone down; I prayed for the wisdom, strength and peace to do God’s will, whether the cancer was a death sentence, or just an inconvenience. I can only say that from the moment of making this prayer, I have experienced a profound sense of peace that is beyond my understanding, and the thought of cancer has never troubled me for a moment. I only made this prayer once, then it changed to giving thanks for another day of peace.

Cancer might be a worrying process, you wait a month or two for appointments, you wait for the results, and you wait for more appointments. I have never once prayed for healing, at the age of 62, the prayer for healing seemed too complicated, it might or might not be my time to go. Recognising this profound sense of peace comes from God, gives me reason to be thankful.

On reflection, I sense that the peace I experienced possibly helped the cancer go away. I have heard that worry and stress can exacerbate medical problems.

Good suggestion. It's the feel good hormone. Depressed people sometimes feel much better after getting a few things like that.
If folks can get outside in the mornings with short sleeves, it would do wonders right now.
It's hard for those who aren't retired. It sounds like you take supplements.

the christian definition of anxiety is: "misplaced priorities in life". anxiety can stem from your mind & will being at odds. knowing the right thing to do but doing something else. being constantly worried what others will say & think. the anxious mind develops a strong condition response that only gets stronger if not corrected. & by course, the devil nurtures anxiety. not a job to big for Jesus, consult Him immediately. learn to slow down your thought, speakings & actions . train yourself to be calm, loose & relaxed. make lessons for yourself & repeat them at night til you fall asleep. wear a smile when you are training yourself, this really helps. blessings to you.

There is a book by Dr Niel Nedley that gives advice on how to overcome depression and anxiety attacks. He is a christian and has created a 10 day bible based depression and anxiety recovery course. Recovery from anxiety is less than 10 to 5% in general apparently but he regularly gets 100% or near 100% recovery from those that attend his course. He made the news for this. In his news Interview he said the way people treat these ailments does not aim to treat the root cause. He said his course uses bible advice on this that addresses this cause and resolves it. Just google Niel Nedley.

I bet he probably cant cure me. I was told I have a condition that makes me constantly anticipate trouble ahead. It's kind of to an extreme. 2 things help (3 counting prayer): exercising and doing something that I really enjoy. At least that is what I was told by the professionals.

Having said that, I've noticed diet and herbs does things. D3 or sunshine help me feel better. Peanut oil and palm oil make it worse. Sinus problems make it worse. Alergy medicine helps. Having a fever actually makes it go away. My journey is different than most but I hope my destination is the same as other Christians.

He will not be the one healing or making you get better, He will be directing you to what scripture shows you should do in order to be healed. He said in the interview that there are a number of instances in the bible where people had clinical depression and the bible describes the way God approached this to heal them. An example he gave was Elijah fleeing from Jezebel. He said Elijah had just come from a mountain where God had literally brought fire down from heaven and burnt his sacrifice soaked in water. He had just completed one of the major religious reforms of his time. Dr Nedly said medical professionals know that when a person has just achieved something great they are more prone to experience depression immediately afterwards. Jezebel then sent messengers to tell him that she would make sure he was dead by the following day. He then fled into the wilderness where he then asked God to end his life. Dr Nedly then explained that this is an example of a person suffering a bad case of depression. The Angel's of God then came to minister to Elijah. Dr Nedly said it is important to take note how the Angel's then ministered to Elijah to help him to recover from his depression. I cant now remember the things he then said, you would have to look up his book and read on it or look for the interview on youtube.

The other thing about Dr Nedlys course is that recovery is long term. The people he works with dont relapse. Earlier I had said recovery in general outside of Dr Nedlys course is less than 10 to 5%. This recovery percentage contains a lot of people that then relapse and some that continue relapsing for the rest of their lives. With Dr Nedlys course recovery is mostly 100% and if not very near to that, and the people in those figures dont relapse ever.

One of the fruits of the holy spirit is self control. This self control addresses depression and anxiety attacks. The good news is that God is more willing to give the holy spirit than our parents are to give us good gifts.

I believe that my anxiety issues are hereditary. Growing deeper in faith has helped my thought process. Trusting that I have lessons to learn in each scenario. It became more about me, and what I need to work through rather than another person. I remember that I'm on my journey, and everyone else is on there's.
I also monitor my caffeine intake because I naturally run at a high gear. I try to avoid things that would stimulate me. Of course I enjoy a coffee, or a coke zero, but I opt for caffeine free when possible.
But, the main thing that helps me is to be introspective. Figure out the lesson that I should learn from any given situation. For example, I'm not an outgoing person. I used to think that I was supposed to be, but being comfortable in my own skin is what I'm supposed to be doing. I also have a strong work ethic which used to be a flaw of mine in my younger years because I couldn't handle making mistakes and judgement, even if it was a result of lack of training or someone else's doing. It's gotten so much easier with age/life experience, but mostly because I purposefully look for the lesson that God has me set up for. Once you learn that lesson, the anxiety wanes. I'm a believer of we all have something to learn every day.
