I would advise anyone affected by deep depression to have their vitamin D level checked. It's called a 25-hydroxy test, but your doctor should know that anyway.
Vitamin D3 supplementation may not be the solution for everyone's depression, but low vitamin D levels can certainly be a cause of it.

back in february i was diagnosed with social depression, anxiety depression, and anxiety, I'm not taking any medicine for it cause i don't like taking pills. But im coming to think that i might need to re think that option. I just want ya to pray for me, i pray to God every night to lay his hand upon me and give me the strength and Guidance to over come this. I know its not easy and that its not going to go away right away. But i have faith that i'm going to get better one day.

I also struggle with depression, as do several others here. I wrote about my battle with it. If you would like to read it, please click the link below in my signature. I hope my story will help and inspire you. :)

I get spooked with the worlds labeling system. Seems everyone has some type of disorder (Per the drug company's) Then handing out dangerous drugs with all of the warnings that they will destroy your health or kill you. Scriptures warns, Be of sober mind. Why? Gods enemy is like a roaring lion. looking for someone to devour. YIKES! I would not be to quick to get onto pharmaceuticals.

There are natural remedy's for depression / mood elevators. Boosting serotonin levels and endorphins both help well being.
St Johns wort, 5htp. and some amino acids which are proteins. Tyrosine is one of them
For Anxiety there is the Herb Valerian Root. That is given to recovering alcoholics for there shakes. helps out coffee jitters also, I have taken it on my dirt bike rides. mellows the nerves out a bit as I scare myself on the bike at times. :)
Fun moderate to intense workouts help a lot. Tough bicycle rides or hikes with Builds endorphins in the brain.
Do a Google search on natural herbs, vitamins and amino acids for anything health related.

Putting a Spiritual take on things. One of Satan's goals is to make/keep Christians ineffective in doing Gods work, and out of his word. There are 100's of millions of Angels. 1/3 of them are fallen. Who really knows how much these things can effect us while we are in the flesh. Unclean Spirits behind simple arguments, thoughts,or feelings that are not from God? Look whats going on in Iran . The Book of Daniel speaks of a 21 day Spiritual battle with a Prince of Persia.(Modern day Iran) This evolved two of Gods Holy Angels. Gods most powerful Angel was even called into battle so that the Angel Gabriel could get his message to the profit Daniel. Daniel could visually see the Angel Gabriel. In another passage others were in the room when Gabriel appeared again. They could not see him, but ran away in fear.

The good news! We have Jesus with us. The creator of everything. The most powerful of all. We are here to do the Lords work. Jesus said. Ignore Satan and he will flee. If our issues are Spiritual. Jesus can cast them away. If they are physical. Jesus can heal us AMEN!

With my depression lately, I just feel like everyone wants to yell at me lol.
I am overly sensitive when it comes to people's emotions.
:/
A pastor once spoke a Sermon on, Challenge our false realities.
Feelings and emotions are not realities. they come and go. You feel like people want to yell at you? Fact! Are they really yelling at you? Ask the person if you want the truth. If there answer is a convincing no. Then one would ask. Where do these negative thoughts come from?
Scripture say. We do not struggle with flesh and blood. Seems Satan can put negative thoughts and feelings into our fleshly bodies/minds. Why would Satan do this? He is against all that God created as good. Love, kindness, relationships, etc.
What do the feelings of everyone wanting to yell at you accomplish? Any thoughts of Gods plan for love and relationships?
Since these are feelings and not fact. Coming from maybe a unclean spirit? The Bible teaches us about spiritual warfare. Bring these negative feelings up before Jesus. Think about going on the offense. that maybe a nasty little fallen angel is messing with you. For the Lord Jesus is with you. For these fallen angels are no more then petty insects to our Lord who spoke all things into existence.

The world system may say! Having some feelings not to your liking? We can fix it with a pill. Side effects may be. Damaged liver, high blood pressure, heart attack, suicidal tendencies or death. Don't worry, We will give you more pills to counteract the side effects of the first pills that we give you.

This being able to live for 89 years does have it's blessings, and one of them is seeing how life today has changed over the years and honestly, people have changed as the world has changed. There is also more depression and such as being bipolar. I am sure we had it and didn't recognize it, also, but I am living with a bipolar person today. She is a lovely, wonderful person with bipolar episodes and thoughts at times. It isn't that she thinks differently to bring these times on, her body sometimes doesn't work correctly so she has the correct hormones to help her thinking.

I had to go to an endocrinologist for a thyroid problem. I and his nurse had a long talk while I was waiting for the doctor about what comes first in depression disorders, the physical cause or the mental cause. That question has never been solved. Certainly, in the case of the bipolar person I am living with, there was reason for it to be found in her childhood. We know that as more people accept sin in their life, there is more and more influence demons are allowed to have in their thinking. Many in todays church even say the ten commandments are not in effect any more, Christ took them away. They say our churches are a place for Christ to evangelize, not a place Christians separate themselves form the world. So more and more children are brought up with bad thoughts accepted and less training of children in how to live with Christ in their life.

Especially, you golfers know how this all works. If you are feeling successful and capable as a golfer, it brings on more success and being on a high. If all is going wrong, it makes more going wrong. That is your brain causing actual chemical actions in your body that could be measured. For depressed people, this gets to be how their body works and hard to get good chemicals going again. Sometimes doing this with medicine works. For a bipolar person, the high even gets out of hand.

There is still a possibility that this is all only physical, and we can be sure that for some it truly is only physical. Once the body stops working correctly, it becomes physical for sure. But it IS getting worse, and demon influence in our world IS getting more pronounced. I don't think it is possible these things aren't connected.

Ok..you have stated the real facts here that you face daily. What next? What of tomorrow? JESUS came to give us LIFE, and more abundantly, starting NOW. His love, joy, power and so much more is there for the use, for the asking..and totally FREE.....no other can offer such a bargain..however, are you holding back, based on 'feelings" or "emotions" or "bipolism" or "meds" or "oh me oh my, I just don't have it in me today" attitude? What gives? Do you, or do you NOT believe and activate what the COMFORTER has in store for us, and you, PERSONALLY? How can you be an effective witness and reflection of JESUS CHRIST to others if you 'isolate" yourself and let depression RULE? Greater is HE (JESUS, the Holy SPIRIT, GOD) that is in YOU than he (satan, his co-horts, his lies, his personal attacks on you) that is in the world!!!! Do you believe that, or does it just look good on paper? When you join others with the same condition, it does not make you stronger, it simply multiplies the "WOAH is me" condition. Why not try surrounding yourself with a holy spirit filled local church congregation, where the BIBLE is not only taught, but lived. Depressive spirits together makes it worse..but Depressive spirit, mixed with Holy SPIRIT, sends the depressive spirit running to where it came back from.

since 1902 over one billion official pages have been printed disclosing the relationship

of nutrition to health ,

as yahweh told moses long ago and can be found (imagine that!?) in the BIBLE.

less well known is that the over one trillion official pages by orders of the enemy since 1902 have been

introduced to kill, steal, and destroy life from everyone (yes, even the elect).....

so it is shocking, devastating, overwhelmingly 'beyond belief' for a human to come to the realization of TRUTH,

after being so long inundated from every direction with what is false.

i.e. the publishing of the lie as true, and of the truth - calling it a lie, is throughout society and has been longer than this generation has been alive.

Spoken as someone who shows themselves to have no clue. Bravo. You can attack and criticize people over things you have clearly never dealt with while building yourself up to look like a spiritual giant who has mastered it all. Great job kicking people while they're down. I'm sure you've made God proud of your condescension and judgment of things you have no experience with. Not to mention your assumptions based on... well... nothing factual whatsoever.
And the term is 'woe' is me. If you're going to put others down at least know how to spell the words you're using to do so.
Bipolism? You mean bipolar? Once again, discredits your criticisms when you don't even know the words.

.... These conditions are brought on by trying to be strong for to long...Strong in a way that is damaging to ourselves. Once we figure out how to be strong while being in peace with ourselves, and learn that we matter equally with everyone else and know what our triggers are THEN the healing truly begins. Take care of yourself before you help others so that you can also be strong for them. Get to truly know yourself.
Very true...depression remains when you cover up the feelings of being hurt by those who demand that you lie about how you feel. if you are feeling weak or discouraged, you must hide it in our culture, because you are not to burden anyone else. You are to be strong and independent and fix all your own problems, that is the way it is. "Get a life!" is the motto. This breeds depression because you cannot be honest about your discouragement or exhaustion, and so you get angry but hide that as well. It rots your soul. The only cure is to be honest, but people will punish you for that because they prefer the illusion that you are sweet and not a bother to them. The culture needs to change to accept and understand those that are depressed. encourage them to be honest instead of putting them back in a silent jail.

And some of it is physical but because it is something we can't see, we can't believe it is a disease and so we just tell everyone to stop having a pity party, so they will stop annoying us. We need to respond with patience and Christian love no matter how hard that can be.

Eating correctly and exercise can help a lot too. And magnesium supplements are a great help to calm anxiety. Everyone needs more magnesium, the soil in North America is deficient in it.

haven't read all the posts, but May, May,
has made some really good points.

we would like to share just 'one' of the things both of us have learned through years of trial and error,
especially since we both have in the past gone thru the (we think doctors have and know all of the answers
and they really do care about us personally syndrome)

I'm talking about 'low-blood-sugar' - this will put anyone on a roller-coaster-ride to hell and back!
learning you own personal 'sugar-balance' is quite a job that can take a very long time to figure out,
especially if you have been medicated for many years - many times it's the meds-treatments-
that will eventually kill you.
we learned the hard way about this kind of thinking and addiction) the 'side-affects' from the
meds=poisons are devastating in the long run, and IF you don't take control of your life and search-out
and examine your options to maintain a healthy lifestyle, the future will be bleak indeed.

I was diagnosed with depression as well. They put me on a really low dosage of citralowphram hydrobromide. After about a month the drugs really started to help, so does a lot of prayer. If you do decide to use medications talk to your doctor about all the different kinds. The only thing i've experienced on the side is dry mouth which is easy to get over.

I have an appointment to see my doctor in 6 days. I am totally against meds. I want the natural herbs. But I also know Only God can heal what is wrong with me. To be honest when you go to the doctor tell him at times you think of suicide ..... his offer is to give you pills that have suicide as a side effect? What now I just won't care if I do?

So ATM I'm taking kava kava. Also praying my head off. Lol
Any other suggestion?

Hi GypsyRebel......
I can totally relate to what you are saying today. I too am going through something that I feel takes God to heal. We know that He is the Ultimate Healer. I too struggle with some thoughts and concerns (negative or otherwise) over the situation including the medications. Please feel free to friend me if you wish to talk together or pray together on our afflictions and concerns. Blessings.~

I would encourage you to surround yourself with a congregation that demonstrates that real worship is not dictated by a church bulletin. lol In other words, lean towards a more pentacostal, evangelical group of holy spirit filled CHRISTIANS, rub elbows with them and find that the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, is just that...our COMFORT, our Healer, our Deliverer that JESUS endorsed when He said "I have to leave in order for the Comforter to come". I'm not saying to forget good common sense, I am saying that if GOD knows your heart and desires and you are in line with living in HIS WORD, in HIs spirit, etc..you have a source more powerful than being hooked on meds for the rest of your life. I was recently told that gout will change my dietary habits and that most likely the new medication that is available will be something that I have to eternally take for the rest of my life. What did I do? I took JESUS at HIS WORD...I layed my hands on my own swollen big toe and spoke a prayer of praise and healing over my gout. I did not run down to the drug store and buy those expensive meds. I think GOD, like a good FAther, was giving me the chance to see if my faith in HIM is more than I have with my local pharmacy. That was a week ago...and I've even given over to the pleasure of eating lots of seafood! So far...so good! It's fun being a CHRISTIAN because each day brings it own little gifts of miracles, one form or another.

It's a shame more Christians aren't helpful in this regard. I've met lots of Churchians who will isolate you unless you paste on a fake smile and pretend you're doing just wonderful (and saying "praise the Lord" while doing so). They're not interested in your real feelings or problems.
After awhile you tend to just pull back from people and stay alone.

My question is this: Would you guys suggest to a diabetic that they not take insulin and just pray about it? I DO believe in healing, and I do believe God can heal a diabetic. But, just in general, would you suggest that they pray instead of taking insulin?

recently I went with a very good friend to her doctor's appointment -
she called and asked me to go with her -
we have been friends for many years and have a very special bond, the four of us -

when I first met her, she was the same size as me, 4-5, but as the years went by, she became
a larger size, growing year-by-year - although I have had children, she has not...yet, I have
controlled myself and am still the same size.

along with her growing in size, she has also grown in un-healthiness - developing what can only
come with abusing your body,......the life-threating illinessess, the devastating ones that the whole
family must find a way to endure unto the very end.,,,

she has actually told me that her doctor has told her just 'what she must do' to 'over-come-control'
her life-threatening ailments, but, she is in total 'denial' and refuses to acknowledge what she must do
to prolong her life....and take responsibility and prolong her life.....

her HOME-LIFE is in such devastation that she has 'given-up', even though she doesn't actually know this,
and she has succumbed to her 'devilish fate', and is without any desire to 'fight' for her life....

how many of you know of what I speak????

Yes oldthennew, sadly yes.

Tackle your depression, that means try anything that is Godly, reasonable, and encourages you to participate in life in the way the Good News has us do. We are commanded to love one another and in so doing, we lift up ourselves in God's grace and can go forward empowered. For me, medication has helped in the past. But have faith in God, not in medication, or two or three (use it if you need it, don't expect the same peace and healing that is from the Lord). Find a Godly physician who can work with your situation in the light of the Word. I now want to view depression as a distortion and I am doing well, and pray that I not view another day in this darkness.
