Someone PM'ed me with a health issue and asked me about a diet regime.

I don't connect what I eat with my position in Christ.

Romans calls those who eat only vegetables as "weak" spiritually to those able to eat meat.

Also it says to eat what is placed before you when you visit others houses, if given with hospitality with thanksgiving.

Paul ate meat.

Jesus are fish after being resurrected.

Therefore what goes into our bodies does not condemn our spiritual state.

It does affect these mortal bodies, but I believe it a blessing if we are able to choose what we can and can't eat.

Some must eat what is available to them. Example would be the homeless or poor who can't buy their own foods. Or the sick who dont have loved ones who will respect their diet.

Last thing about this.
You do not accomplish anything in this life without sacrifice and hard work and consistency and diligence.
Want a good career, you probably have to go to college and work at it.
Want a good marriage, you have to put the time in and sacrifice for your spouse.
Want a good relationship with God? You need to sometimes put aside that movie or football game because prayer or your ministry is more important.

We all know though that the rewardsd are well worth it.

We know there is no short cut. We have to put the time and work in

Our physical lives are no different. If you do not eat right your going to suffer, and your going to restrict your potential.
The diet I posted may seem to some like a sacrifice or is very limiting.
I don't think it is. I have been living like this for 23 years, and love the taste of Gods wholesome unprocessed foods.

You get out what you put into something. The body will do what it needs to do if you allow it to. Often times disease is the bodies shout out to get out of its way and let it do what it was designed to do.

I think the rewards are so vast that it far's outweighs what you think you may be surrendering.

If you want to gain your life, you have to lose it.

You can eat animal flesh. The diet has fish and Turkey and chicken on it.

The context about Paul calling those who ate vegetables and being weak and those who meqt being strong is different then what you think.

He is talking about the poor and rich and privileged and oppressed.

And in regard to the verse about eating what is put out in front of you is in context of hospitality, not a dietary plan.

I think most of us have the good social graces to be able to graciously decline something that is off our diet without offending anyone. Especially in this day and age with all the knowledge of allergies and different life styles.

I said that there were plenty of people who did not eat well and were still very plugged in with God. But I also stand by what I say when I say that no matter what level they are at, they are leaving something on the table if they are not eating well.

Also when it comes to Paul eating meat, yo do realize he was eating met with no hormones or anti biotics or steroids or coloring or glue (yes, meats have glue) or fillers, don't you?

And you do not know how many days a week Paul was consuming animal flesh.

Again, there is organic fresh animal products on the plan.

So I took a survey of what I had in my cabinets and pleasantly surprised that we had quite a bit of food that fits.

Most we gathered for our backpacking meals and because I was looking for gluten free substitutes and non meat proteins because some of the kids had dietary restrictions.

Made a veggie juice from a tomato, a carrot, radish, cucumber, cabbage and put it away for lunch. Plan on having salmon and salad for dinner with the family. Need to find a good homemade salad dressing recipe and salmon recipe.

We will see how this goes. My family already thinks I am strange giving up steak and bacon. It will probably healthier to cut out processed food and learn to can veggies and make sauces.

So what is this detoxing you speak of? What should we expect?
If your going to be under intense pressure from your family either do not do it, or maybe introduce it in stages of many months, or maybe a few years.
Your harmony with your family may not be worth it then. Unless if your sick, then if this is going to cause a problem with your family, you may want to pray about it,

I am not being sarcastic when I say that for some people a lower quality of health and living a few less years may be a tradeoff that is preferable if it means major wars and arguments or not.

That is something you have to decide. I suggest take it to God in prayer.

I can sit here and type away and tell you about all my amazing (and the almost unbelievable) results that this diet has attained for me and others, but if your going to be emotionally miserable because your family is militant against it, then whats the point?

When I transitioned over I my wife had left me 2 and a half years earlier and I was raising 3 kids.
My wife would have not minded me doing it anyway, she was good like that.
My on again/off again girlfriend at the time was fine with it.

My mom who lived 5 states away was okay with it.
My brother and sister adapted it a year later, when they saw in me what it had done for me.

My grand mother practically disowned me. She was Italian and though I was a disgrace not eating those heavy foods. Which I did like as far as the taste, BTW.

A lot of friends and other family though I was strange, but then again, a lot of them thought that before I changed my diet around. Just now even more so.

All I can say is that the closer we get to God, and that means all aspects of our lives, the more we are going to seem like aliens in our own environment. That is why Jesus said we are in this world, but not part of it.

The world system is hostile to Christians.

I remembered somewhere here said no to corn... and of course the comments that the poultry, etc at the time had no antibiotics and hormones given unlike now. Been going thru the book of Ruth for the Bible verse by verse thread and noticed corn in Ruth 2.14: Rth 2:14 And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.

What would parched corn be?

Thanks.

'parched' would be like a 'roasted grain'...

we must all go through the FIRE, when Jesus Christ calls us...
