I too am Australian and called Ron.

Am I a Christian?

Well I was born one and have a son called Christian, I sang in the choir and rang the bells.

I believe in Jesus.

I also believe that both texts are selective and have been manipulated.

I have a website dedicated to the meaning of life but it is not my place to promote it here without being asked to do so, in any case it is unfinished and in need of tidying up.

Thank you for allowing me to join, I will probably cause debate but will never be abusive and only write my truth.

At the risk of opening a can of worms, to what texts are you referring when you say they are selective and have been manipulated?

And welcome! A neighborly exchange of ideas is what you will find among the people here.

Oh come on, you need to say more than one line after making such an assertion! How? What specific parts have been manipulated? Are the texts true and inspired by the Holy Spirit or are they mere scribblings of men?
How do you know what parts to believe and which are questionable? Or is all of it suspect?

PS I must sign off now to get some sleep. If you post a reply soon, I am NOT ignoring you. It is past my bed time. I will pick up the discussion tomorrow.

This is an introduction page and not a debating one.
I will say though that all your questions are for you to answer alone.

Welcome!
You are correct, this is not a debate page. However, that is a very rude way to answer an honest question. How about you open your own thread in the Bible discussion page and answer her questions appropriately. Then let her know where you posted the reply. You can't just claim those things about the Bible on this site and not explain yourself.

To be rude is a cognitive belief centred upon the individual, supported by others but without significance to the users intent. Indeed rudeness was not intended.
One may ask questions but not demand answers and it is particularly important that one does search one's self for answers.

I have not joined this forum to play games, the playground has it's purpose.

Welcome to the site! Hard to believe, but I think you are actually the second person from Australia named Ron to join within about 24 hours! Funny how that works. I've got to ask, are you a fan of Lord of the Rings?

How strange. I went to the same school as Tolkein. Fan, no, but an exceptional work.

If you are saying the Bible is selective and has been manipulated, I think you are in error. I think the Bible is a faithful account of the events it relates. The letters are genuine.

Absolutely, all answers about all things are within yourself.
That's why none of us need schools, or books, or teachers, or any kind of training... FOR ANYTHING!
Woooo!!!

I bet Frodo never even went to school.
He must have learned to read and write by looking within himself.

Frodo is amazing!
: )

Now Frodo, don't be modest.
If you say you're talking only about "spiritual" truths, then you're still equally amazing!

For thousands of years the most brilliant minds on the planet - philosophers, theologians, historians, linguists, archaeologists, and even scientists - have devoted their entire lives to searching all available human knowledge, and after lives devoted solely to study and research they've written countless volumes about religion and every conceivable topic pertinent to religion ...
and yet you can discover all truth by just looking within yourself.

You are truly amazing, and we are extremely fortunate to have you here!

Many do!

Were the texts of the new testament not selected from may others?

And in translation was there not manipulation, for example the addition of nobility and in particular the adding to the lords prayer 'for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory'?

Hi Frodo27,

Welcome to CC.

Just a forewarning: if you're gonna say that the OT and NT are selective and manipulated with no backup, and that one only needs to look for answers inside themselves, and all in your introductory post, I think you're gonna be treading some dangerous waters sooner rather than later...

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you explain your thoughts a little better.

QED I never even suggested that, yet you choose manipulation
