I think the problem arises from equal treatment of the sexes. Absolutely women are equal to men but some take it a bit too far.

You know what? I agree almost completely with you. The only thing I would add more to is discrimination in the workplace. Where I work 100% of the managers are women because the only manager of 10 who was a man just got fired. The top manager is a woman and one of those obese, opinionated, defensive women at that. I practically got chewed out by her for 'telling her how to do her job' because I took note of what was working in my field of expertise and what wasn't and offered a suggestion of how it could better be managed (on a questionaire of how management was doing no less!).
I hear you on this one Ashton! In the last year and a half, I've suffered emotional abuse from mood swings of female bosses and co-workers that I could never have imagined that I'd ever face on a job. Attitude that is light years beyond the worst experiences I've ever had with male bosses! I walked around in continual fear and consequently I bent over backwards to keep the ladies happy.

I won't even get into details about our landlord...

I know this is off the topic, but I've always felt this verse is odd. Like, neener, neener, I'm not going to get revenge (so you can go simmer, loser). What does this verse really mean?
It means that people feel like dirt if they treat you poorly and you respond with kindness. It takes awhile sometimes but works like a charm.

I had a gay co-worker years ago that absolutely hated me. I always treated him nicely. One day he told the boss to choose between us. My boss told him to take a hike.

In different situations I've had people who have been rude to me but I returned kindness and they eventually came and sat and talked with me and became friendly. I don't know how it works but God knows what He's talking about.

The difference between women saying "I want a good Christian man" and myself saying it is that I dont have a "...and he has to be tall and handsome and in a band and funny and my everything!"

All I really want is a good Christian man. I dont care how fat he is, how old he is, how broke he is. I just want a man to lead me to Christ and love me unconditionally.
I know a real sweet Christian guy! He's 63 or 64 now and in great health. He's a very hardworking architect and has a business of his own on the side. He's never been married and he's loved at the church. PM me your phone number and we'll see how serious you are. hahaha! I bet not very...

The things people say...

Hmm... I wonder how he'd react...

Honestly, its a give and take situation. Lets face it, men do not respect women either in America. They look at us like we're play things and expect us to unclothe on the first date (after a lavish dinner of course). I'm not saying women didn't do this to themselves, but we're not the only ones who dont show respect. You tell a man that you're commited to sex only after marriage they look at you like you took away their favorite toy.

I dont know about you but I'm pretty hard working and respectful to people who aren't interested in being respectful back. You just have to meet the right Christian women who know that material things dont fulfill, dont matter, and aren't God's goal for our lives. You may say you can't find that person! Well then maybe you should come up to me after church instead of ignoring me week after week.
i thought the rule was the third date:confused:

im sure thats what they said on the big bang theory:)

It's not just Asian women, it's just non-American women. American women have grown up on "independence" and refuse to be told what to do by ANYONE under ANY circumstance. Just today in class, my sub was talking about how she sometimes goes out in public in a miniskirt, and someone said "Does he say anything to you about that?"

She responded- "Heck no, he KNOWS better than to tell ME what >I< should and shouldn't wear!" Shortly afterwards, all the girls in the class echoed back, "You got that right, girl!" and "You're right, I wouldn't take that from MY man!"

I was like "0_o" at this. Are women really so independent that they refuse to even listen to their husband's opinions? And if they do listen, do they not even care how he feels about the decisions they make? Sure, it's happened the other way around before with abusive husbands, but this new attitude in girls is becoming an acceptable standard.

Heck, my girlfriend is even under the new standard a little bit... I can't tell if she's naturally not, but being pulled into it, or if she naturally is and trying to remain relatively submissive, but either way, it's not good =S lol
way to be stereotypical. I happen to be an American woman who respects my husband.

Sharp, that one was way below the belt.

*Runs over Aussie with her PT Cruiser.*

Take that!!! (By the way, I have no points/infractions on my license, and only a MINOR history of accidents... all at the fault of the other party, of course!)

That's actually true, unless you count that incident with my parent's mailbox... (hey, it was icy.)

All right, I confess!! My friends do tell me I drive like a Grandma!! But, I've never had a speeding ticket... I may have a burst of motivation in my old age, however!!!

And if I could, I would POST so slowly that you'd be likely to cause a 50-user pileup, Smarty Pants!!

I used to go out with a 45 year old when I was 19.

I think it's rude that you are making fun of me and by extention saying that I'm not sincere.

It's a shame to me how we feel we are entitled to make stereotypical comments about each other in this Chat room. It's not cool, and although I truly respect seoulsearch for being such a trooper and a Lady in the midst of comments like:

" i'm also going to be stereotypical asian women are terrible at driving cars i don't know what it is....but its true..." or "Asian men too.",

I feel it's wrong to do it in the first place.

She seems like a wonderful lady, and you guys don't know if these comments would actually hurt her feelings or anyone else's in the forums who come here to fellowship with God loving people. I've always found you both funny and, although sarcastic at times, very easy going...but these comments are just not nice...they have become personal and it bothers me.

Just my 2 cents. Take them for what they're worth.

Hi ILive :) !

Thanks so much for the very kind and way too generous compliment. With Sharp, it's all right--he's actually one of the first people I met here at CC so I know he means no harm :D, and that's why I've been poking fun at him.

I actually consider everyone here to be quite generous with me, as some could become very offended by my playful bantering :).

I'm actually glad Quest wrote this thread... it's been interesting... and my thought is that if we are able to talk about various stereotypes in a civilized manner, maybe we can all learn how to be more sensitive to one another.

I live in an area where the white/black issue is a very hot-button topic, and being Asian, I get used to saying things I'd otherwise be slammed for if I were white or black.

For example, I was talking with a black girl in our office one day, and when our office manager (who is white) walked in and asked what was up, I gave her my best smile and said, "Oh, I'm sorry, this discussion is only for us PEOPLE OF COLOR!" To which, they both just looked at me like I was crazy and burst out laughing.

I thank God for diversity... and good people with great senses of humor who choose to enjoy it!!

Thank you so much for your post though--I greatly appreciate it. :)

Sharp has always been extremely cool to me and often gets my sense of humor when no one else does, God bless him for that! :)

Now granted, I have yet to start breaking out the Aussie jokes and stereotypes... but if I ever do, or choose to write a thread regarding "Australian Men", I have a few targets... er... points of interest... in mind. :D

I certainly didn't intend to offend you Dread, you must understand though that I do not know you well, and that the things you say are miles away from what is considered to be normal in our society. And since those things are so far from the "norm" people tend to find them difficult to believe, regardless of who it is speaking.

If you truly are different from the "generality" of people in our society, I applaud you.

alright in light of the above comments another generalisation is due.

americans are too sensitive when it comes to race.

boundaries are broken down with humour, when seemingly awkward or sensitive issues can be spoken of lightly and made fun of.

some would think the opposite is true though - when society gets to the point where even acknowledging someone being a different colour or nationality is frowned upon - that's racial harmony. no way.

my advice to the USA would be to lighten up and go watch the movie "Crash".

p.s. white men can't jump
