why is this the only connection you have to other Christians? Not interested in getting into a church? Your past lifestyle is already behind you if you given your life to Christ. It's all about repentance, and turning away from your past life-style to God's life style. Sound too easy? Yeah....I'm sure. But it's all about turning from one and serving the other. But no fooling around with this. It's go to be all or nothing. We can't fool God into thinking we're sincere if we're not. Not to judge your commitment, just need to be serious about what you're doing. One has to count the costs of being a Christian. You wouldn't sign up for the military until you knew what to expect and what was expected of you, right? Same with God.....know what you're signing up for and then go full steam ahead with Him. He won't disappoint you. His fringe benefits are out of this world. And READ, READ, READ, His WORD!!!! That's one way you will get to know what's in store for you and what's expected of you.

You are fine Scott. Nothing in the rules that says (that I have seen) Lord and God need to be caps. It is just standard practice that I sometimes don't do as well. You haven't done anything wrong. You still looking for a bible?

Praying for you, and welcome to CC! I would encourage you to find people to connect with either through church and/or a church group, such as the celebrate recovery, which works from the twelve step model to help us come to terms with who we are and the things we have done. You cannot change your past but you can change your attitude toward it and the hold it has on you that prevents you from moving forward in your life. In the meantime, you could always seek out a twelve step fellowship that deals with whatever some of your issues have been. Most have to do with addiction of some sort, the cunning enemy of life. The twelve steps are all about establishing and maintaining your relationship with God. Jesus came to offer us a life more abundant!

Don't delete your post. You are being you. We are all flawed. Own it and look forward to getting cleaned up in the Lord. If anyone thinks they are not "flawed", they are deceived.

Scott... Some words of encouragement for you in the Lord.... Most important thing you need to receive in you heart is that Jesus your Lord and Savior says " Come as you are" all the regrets, sins from the past are what Jesus died on the cross for, which is to receive You as you are & wash you clean by the blood of the Lamb. Come as You are & humbly lay it all down at the feet of Jesus. All you come to Jesus with a repentant heart are wash clean & become a child of the King of Kings, & Your name is written in the "Lambs book of Life" If someone misinterpreted your original post as not being sincere, its really between you & the Lord when it comes to what's in our heart. We cannot judge another mans heart without first looking at our own heart, as we all fall short of the Glory of God, but Jesus has given us the gift of Salvation & having a personal relationship with Jesus living in out heart forever. You new life in Christ begins the minute you receive Jesus into your heart & make Him your Lord and Savior. From that point on, the Holy Spirit will "lead you and guide you into all truth. Jesus will begin renewing every area of your life, and He begins by healing your heart & past. He will fill you with purpose, hope, peace & Joy as you learn daily to walk with your Lord & Trust Him completely to strengthen you in all area's. You've come to the right place here on Christian chat. Just be encouraged in the Lord, that we all need Jesus to walk beside us every day of our lives.

Scott...didn't mention this in my last post to you, that its very important to find a bible, and maybe start reading the gospel of John, which is a good place to learn about Jesus, for new believers. Romans is another great place to begin learning on living the Christian life with the holy spirits help...Jesus will love you all the days of your life, as He is forever committed to You.

man, i tell you...the honesty! it's good!

please, Scott, keep posting. there's not a person here who doesn't have something dark and shameful in the past.

but there is a Redeemer! Christ Jesus, who redeems us, all the parts of us, and cleans us up and makes us new.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (2 Cor:17-19)

because this is one of the billions of things i don't know :)rolleyes:)
have you trusted the Lord Jesus as your Savior?

can we help in that way? we would be honored. :)

Welcome to CC bro' It doesn't matter where you have come from. If your greatest effort is to be with Him then you will know within yourself that all you have and are are to be His. Coming from great darkness into the light is blindingly beautiful. The love and acceptance can be overwhelming, and I pray the Holy Spirit will anoint you with power.

Make sure you ask the Holy Spirit to live in you, make sure you give to Jesus all the hidden parts of you that shame you, speak them out and their power within you will fade to nothing. Most important is to listen with your heart not with your mind and understanding, be on your guard, satan wants nothing more that for you to fail. Listen with your heart, feel with the Spirit God gives you, it will interact with your Spirit.

Please find someone to fellowship with, a church to meet with, they will help you with a direction for your energies and a filter for your emotions. Go in peace bro. If you want to talk PM me God bless, and I am praying for you.

God and Lord need to be capitalized. :)
Be a little friendly, blue. And stay away from legalism, lol. That doesn't do anyone any good. :)

Hello Scott! No, you're totally fine. Just, come as you are. :) And no, you're not alone. We ALL had dark pasts. xD Not that we're proud of them. But they remind us of how deep and wide God's love and grace is for sinners, like us, that He gave His life for us. While we were still sinners!

Welcome to CC and we hope you'll be blessed by the fellowship here, and grow in your Christian walk, with the rest of us. :) Feel free to ask questions, and get to know the rest of us through the general forums.

There is no need to delete anything. I am glad that you are putting your past behind you and moving forward with your life with God by your side. Please give this site a chance as there are a lot of friendly members willing to listen and offer heartfelt practical and spiritual advice. None of us have led perfect lives Scott. Just relax and be yourself. Happy to have you join our family. Welcome to CC.

Good golly. Let's give him a break, lol. Our righteous deeds are filthy rags. Let the man just experience Jesus' saving grace, first, and all these things will come naturally to him.

My past is very colorful.. God doesn't care, all is sin and He promises to make a new creation..
Don't let these folks get to you, you'll learn their personality and ignore what's irrelevant..
God is love, so stay bc their are some amazing things to gain from being connected...

The devil will come after you but he has already been defeated.. agree with the word and you will succeed in life.. Any questions, plenty of us here will be more than happy to answer.. Look over the forums and post in the appropriate place, as they will have the greatest opportunity to be received well..

I have just started getting close to the Lord and establishing a relationship. I go on nightly walks here on the country side of Ohio. During my walks is when I speak to God and continue working on a relationship. That probably sounds weird but he defiantly has been letting me know he's calling to me. Hard to explain in words.

That is a great way to spend time with the Lord.
