Well, let's see, if you had to work to earn the Cookee as a reward or wage, then you would boast how hard you worked, and tell people that have t work hard if they want one too.

if it was given as a gift because someone loved you not because you earned it, you will cherish it, and cherish the person who gave you what you did not earn.

Quite simple actuallly if you look at it
What happens if you just eat it and say thanks?

Those that believe in the virtual reality of Penal Substitution, many of them even openly subscribe to the carnal-Christian myth,,,

to put it plainly, those that still commit the vile sins of the flesh, but somehow believe they can still reside within the kingdom, based on an imaginary position.....
ok so if penal substitution did not save us, and everyon claims your u d not teach sinless perfection, he can we be saved?

Or or do you teach sinless perfection?

If you don't follow God's commandments, you're not a friend of Jesus...

John 14.15
John 15:14
John 15.1-6
John 14:21
John 10:27-28
John 5:28-29

It's not me saying it Ariel, John was with Jesus for over three years.
I think He knows what is needed to be a disciple of Jesus and to be saved.

Deuteronomy 30:15, 19
well good, then why are you not preaching to people who d no t do that, instead Of preaching to those who KNOW whoever is born of god will do his commands?

There is but 1 (one) way, not 2, 3 or 50.......exactly why Paul covers gospels of a DIFFERENT KIND which have no power to save having been double cursed and false........

Just saying...
How does the above answer my post?
Do you even understand what I'm saying?

I'm not sure, what all that means. I don't defend other people's beliefs. I can only testify to what is in scripture.
OK Limey,

I'm starting to understand what part of the problem is on this thread.

Everybody here reads the bible but few study theology.

So...
YOU don't understand about Penal Substitution. That comes from studying theology.
YOU don't understand about the Kingdom. That comes from studying theology.

Apparently Willybob HAS studied theology, so he knows about the above concepts.
Study up.

It's not me saying works are necessary EG. The Writers of the N.T. say it.
I really don't know HOW you get the idea that works are NOT necessary.

Did you read the post I just wrote to Ariel?
Look up those verses that John says. JOHN. NOt ME.

JESUS SAID WHAT JOHN IS REPEATING.

JESUS SAID WORKS ARE NECESSARY, NOT ME.

HE said the IF you're His friend, you will obey His commandments.

Seems like simple English to me.

What do the verses I posted mean to YOU?

How do you explain them away??

What surprises me is that you say you know what sanctification means.
It doesn't seem like it to me...
It seems like you're afraid of the word "works".

Just because YOU had a bad experience with a particular Church DOES NOT change the doctrines set forth in the bible.
no Fran it is you

john does not say it no one day does, if the did they would say salvation can be earned, it is not by grace

They say those saved have works, vs those who are not saved who have non..

faith is is the power of work, not the other way around, you do not say you have faith in somon and disobey them and not do anything they ask.

you want to preach works, feel free,, you want to think YOUR work will save you, feel free

but do not expect us to follow

So do you believe in penal substitution or reject it like Willybob?

Do you believe in imputed righteousness or do you reject that?

I wouldn't brag about WillyBob's "theological studies".

Ariel,

Stephen63 is saying that we DON'T KNOW what sins Jesus' Two Great Commandments cover UNLESS we learned all the other commandments FIRST.

He's right of course.

First I would teach the kids the 10 Commandments. Go through each one.

THEN they learn the Two Great Commandments.
I used to like to see the look of undersanding on some of their faces (not all unfortunately) when they understood that those two cover all the rest.

But they DID have to know all the rest first...

God didn't waste His time giving us the commandments. He knew they'd come in handy...
stephen is wrong as usual

if you love someone, you will never sin against them, so why would you need to know the commands you f by acting out of love you would nev r do anything against them or if a selfish attitude?

He us trying to take you back t law.

love covers the law.
