Hi Vco, yes God's love is our motivator.

The problem with benhurs fictional story is no Christian will ever have the mind set that ministry or works is a burden, it just will not happen. He loves to invent fictional stories which will never ever happen. And then tell you that if you have these thoughts then "maybe" this fictional character was never really saved to start with.

Its all fiction and all what if, what if, what if, and it drives me crazy, complete nonsense.
The only time it may be a burden is if someone feels they " must " do it to keep themselves secure .
Then it becomes a question of how much do I have to keep doing ?
And a never ending focus on ourselves , and always wondering if You have done enough
sounds like the false gospel of works salvation to me !!!

i wonder what people who think they are saved any way apart from by grace through faith think of this

John 3:15-17
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

so far what ive seen
is they play word games with words like belief

then they add the works of the individual to the GIFT of God

Ephesians 2:8
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God

they also ignore the fact He will not lose even one of His

john 6
37 ALL that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in NO wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that EVERY ONE which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

they seem to believe God will toss His own into the lake of fire and ignore His own promises

they seem to place salvation on their own shoulders

it really is a shame to see so many with a false understanding of the gospel

as well as a false understanding of WHO God is.....

He is a loving Father .... believe it or not

Thats all good, but at least 1 of these sealed up people were cursed of God (Ham) and lost his salvation. So not a particularly good analogy.
HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAH wow......dude....it is obvious that you open your mouth without knowledge......

a. HAM was brought through the flood just fine
b. It was NOAH that cursed HAM with servitude....

You absolutely take the cake for twisting scripture to peddle a false, lose your salvation dogma.....

A person that is resurrected to eternal life will have both a physical body and a spiritual body. The bible talks about eating in Revelation, mentioning that there will be a banquet with the choicest foods.
The bible give a very accurate description of the resurrected body and like you said...we can glean many truths about it scattered throughout scripture....

A body raised in power, celestial, astral heavenly, yet able to take physical form, be touched, handled, able to eat, materialize behind closed doors etc........

one of the most common ridiculous arguments against Gods promise of eternal security to all who believe is

"If you believe in eternal security you believe you can sin all you want"

that completely ignores the new God given heart and quickened spirit... it is a very worldly way to think to suggest such a thing

a saved born again believer is now a new creature

an adopted son/daughter of God

when they act according to the flesh that doesnt register "im doing what i want and getting away with it"

it registers as "failure"

and God chastens His own children

we want to walk according to the spirit and NOT the flesh at ALL points

but when we do sin
it is a failure

not "what we want"

thank you so much Jesus for being my advocate

i know i have no power to save myself

Amen Mcgee, even our best favorite sin is no longer fun any more. There is a war going on between the flesh and the spirit, my will and God's will. And like you say when we do sin we have failed, it is not, I got away with it. This life on earth is just preparing us for our eternal heavenly life.
"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do."

Amen Ljs, God's love to us is the great motivator, not working to keep myself saved.

Why doesn't benhur just be upfront and honest and say; yes you can lose your eternal salvation, and if you stop working to keep your salvation you are lost and doomed to hell. No he is not upfront because everyone would say, you are promoting a false gospel. benher's gospel is not, "Good News" and it will leave you alway doubting your salvation, and a lack of assurance and no "Joy in the Lord"

A counterfeit gospel will always leave you empty depressed and joyless.

Thank you dcon

I've encountered exactly the type of personality you describe in that first part of your post. Turns out they were posing and were not a Christian at all when they made that argument repeatedly as they denied eternal security and promoted works salvation. Arguing also that each and every time we would sin we would lose our salvation and have to repent and receive God's merciful grace again at his discretion.
Come to find out, this person that argued that for ages on a forum was an atheist! But before that was discovered the owner of the site made a rule! In honor of that one that was anti-salvation, anti-Christ. No discussions of eternal security, not even allusions to eternal life.
The atheist won!

Now they have been found to be at other forums pulling the same stunt and likely hoping for the same outcome.

Anyone who thinks eternal security in Christ gives the Christian a license to sin has never once read the Bible. It is really that simple.

this sounds like the gospel of flimsy grace that is taught by revolving door salvationists from the man made church of "save yourself"

id much rather hear of these people turning to Jesus (the only way to salvation) instead of turning atheist

:/

The person I'm referring to was atheist before trying to disrupt the peace of a Christian's community. His intention was to bring chaos and fracture discussions as pertained to the actual word of God by abusing the scriptures and taking them out of context so as to argue a false doctrine. He achieved great satisfaction for years! As Christians tried to correct his "misunderstanding" that was no misunderstanding at all , but rather was a premeditated wicked intent to abuse the faithful using their own Bible.
The great sin that many of us saw happen due to that was not his being banned for all time. But rather, due to his persistence and the atmosphere becoming heated when people would repeatedly argue the true Gospel of salvation, the owner of the community banned instead the topic of eternal security in Christ. And any implied wording that included eternal life.

I'm one that looks for the silver lining in all dark situations. In that case the silver lining in my opinion was that we all had had the opportunity to not only witness a real life wolf wearing the disguise of a sheep. But we also witnessed the fact in print as forewarned of in 1 Peter 5:8. Because the Devil has his disciples too. And that one was one of those.

However, the other lovely part of all those encounters was that the true people of Christ rallied together and fought the false teaching, the Devil's own and his dark false gospel teaching, every single time he tried to promote it. :) The truth met the lie head on and from what I saw in the profile history of that Devil's disciple, for years!
Hallelujah!

Assurance of salvation:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John3:16

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm23:6

25) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
26) and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
27) “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
John11:25-27

Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever. Psalm 41:12

22) But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
23) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans6:22,23

God bless!

Will a spiritual flesh be able to eat real earthly food and digest it?
Now I have reason to call you a Doubting Thomas.

I think he means GLORIFIED FLESH. It will be LIKE OURS, only it will be ETERNALLY ALIVE.

Luke 24:38-43 (HCSB)
38 “Why are you troubled?” He asked them. “And why do doubts arise in your hearts?
39 Look at My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself! Touch Me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.”
40 Having said this, He showed them His hands and feet.
41 But while they still were amazed and unbelieving because of ⌊their⌋ joy, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish,
43 and He took it and ate in their presence.

That means one minute I could be here and the next at your place.
In the UK then the USA (or other side of the world)

That being the case I'm not gonna tell you when I want to visit.

The last time I told you I was visiting you said you were busy getting your hair done.

Oh, I certainly have experienced that. I have to admit that it does irritate my some when they accuse us that we believe we can sin all we want to, because that is what they think Eternal Security means. I have a common come back answer for those that think that:

"YOU DO NOT HAVE A CLUE WHAT WE ACTUALLY BELIEVE, YOU ONLY BELIEVE WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD ABOUT OUR BELIEFS FROM SOME FALSE TEACHER, THAT DID NOT HAVE A CLUE WHAT WE ACTUALLY BELIEVE."

How is that different than the body we have now?

Would you call your current body a spiritual body?
Shrume is correct on what he said about the spiritual body. Read my post #64,176. The GLORIFIED BODY is a BODY of Flesh and Bones. THE DIFFERENCE, will be Eternally Alive, and UNABLE TO EVEN THINK SINFUL THOUGHTS.
