Well, back to my constant venting about job searching/not finding/ect.

So far I've been looking for jobs as an artist (full time, either graphic design wise, in videogames, greeting cards, ect), a customer service person at like a video game company or website I use all the time, or a social media marketing person.

I must be cranking out like at least 3-15 applications a day. Not getting much response back though, and that can be the disheartening part. I don't mind getting a no, but it's better than getting absolute radio silence. To me that's like a "you don't matter enough to even get an automated message." I have to laugh that a couple of companies I had applied to gave me nothing, then I applied again and they finally at least sent me a nay. *sigh*

Yeah I know how you feel babe the no reply is the worst part of it, or even worse is when they keep saying they are busy and will look into it as soon as possible when they never intend to and could have just said no

Ironically you get that the most when you send lots of emails and pester them. XD

Hi Steph, it’s nice to hear from you again.

Its hard job hunting it can seriously damage your confidence, but know this
you are far more, mature, braver, more organised than you think.

You have a lot to offer an employer, don’t forget that! :)

If you seriously want work, you need to step
away from the computer and pound the pavement.
I recommend making a short list of places where you want to work.
Pester them in person at least once a week until one of them hires you.
Phone calls and emailing is not how you look for work.
Another thing you need to consider is working outside your
chosen field, and then freelancing your craft on the side.
Give people a good product at a fair price and you'll never be out of work.
Didn't I read somewhere you're in the Phoenix area?
There's got to be literally thousands of positions available around there.

Huck is right . One of my loves is painting and drawing. I have played with several mediums watercolor ,and pencil are my favorites. I also enjoy getting out to a gallery or two . One thing I have noticed is that these folks tend to keep a low internet profile. They are close knit family. You have to show up on their door steps to get noticed. The idea is to take a job there then develop the relationship to get your dream job . It’s a process to get where you want to be . A few good places to look at is check out the Phoenix art walk and the Scottsdale art walk . Several galleries open up to the public on certain Friday nights.
Also downtown Tempe has a few galleries that may be of interest.

That's right what you have said, when looking for a job what you're really doing is selling yourself and promoting your brand which is you.

Have you tried a temp service? That's a good way to get your foot in the door. A lot of companies go this route and hire from their own temp pool. Got a career type of job once starting as a temp. 4 months later I was hired. Staying there years and years, several promotions, various assignments, special projects, etc. Ended up writing the company newsletter in addition to my other responsibilities. Best job I ever had.

Ya babe remember when I was thinking I was going to get that interview at freddies and I was so excited? That was one where I went in person instead of online but sadly they were only leading me on instead of just saying no. Sadly when your honest sometimes it makes people not want to hire you at least in my case. Also look in the news paper sometimes you find some amazing job in there

You can't eat benefits, right now you just need some income. After you get a job work on getting your next one that's even more suitable for you. An internship may gain you experience but typically does not pay a salary or perhaps a nominal one. From years of work experience I know that it is much easier to get a job when you already have one. I'm not saying that you can't pick and chose but what's most important is for you to get into the game.

I think it's because mom is more secure in her financial stability, and is more worried about me and my health longterm. SRP has epic health benefits, and daddy's own benefits and pension kinda basically set her up in a modest way on her own for life. Now I have to find out a way to do that for myself, at least I think that's her hope for me.

It's funny too thought because all my freelance art friends are like just make sure that you get a bunch of freelance stuff. But I know for a fact that it isn't a stable income constantly, and if I get diabetes or something that is highly likely what I need.

Yeah my family kinda tries to think ahead as much as possible haha.

I also added one of my art profiles on again that is more professional based which is nice. It's called dribbble and their mascot is a pink basketball XDD

I am INTENSELY salty about a review/assessment I did. So they wanted to have me do a customer service review, and so I did it and this assesment that they had included like big reading, matching patterns of different shapes, as well as mock trials. It took probably like 2 hours. And then after that the job of theirs I REALLY wanted they said they woulnd't give me cuz it wasn't full time. I was just like. *angry squirrel noises*

Okokokokok so like....There's this place near here called On Angels Wings that has group homes and projects for people with severe/moderate disabilities. And I may get a phone interniew! Super excited! Also, just put in for one of those "caption phone" things and work there too! I know that the phone one has benefits....but the angels wings one may be better for long term career goals....

Also, put in for SRP so I may well get something there!

SO MANY RESPONSES AT ONCE! PRAISE THE LORD!

I don't know if any of you remember me, I'm Fenner Joy, anyhow Stephanie I understand your frustrations. Unfortunately we live in a time it's hard to find a job with benefits. Like someone else said, if you have at least an income coming in you can continue to look for a job with the perks. Best wishes
