Sometimes you meet people that seems to attack you, backstab you or belittle you for the smallest things. Even if you try your very best to be nice, it just seems like a waste of time.

How do you deal with people like that?
Do you try to convince them you are worth their time and friendship or do you move on?

Before I got offended, but now I just say a hushed “Bless your wicked heart, you can’t help it” lol.

If it’s people in real life, I’m not sure what I would do. I usually keep to myself in most places, so meeting others doesn’t happen often. At work, I work. I have a business relationship with my coworkers, so I’ve never had anything happen.

When it comes to online, if someone has something against me for whatever reason, it doesn’t really bother me. I move along.

and some people are unjust.

That's just the way it is.


Avoid them if at all possible, and if not, choose to represent Christ to them.

Why would you want to convince someone so determined to tear you down to spend time with you? Nope I do my best to avoid and ignore them. If that doesn't work then I pull out the big guns of sarcastic mockery and not concealing that I think they're the biggest idiot ever to share space with me. Blunt, fed up with someone cinder is not a nice person to be around.

Some people, you just can't help but feel sorry for them. They seem to default to insult in normal conversation, as though that is what they grew up with and that's just all they know.

I work with one of them. She's a manager who grew up in... well, in an area where the residents are widely known for being fault-finding and insulting. She moved to our area fourteen years ago, but she still has the attitude she grew up with in that area. Her daughter also has the default-to-insult conversational trait, indicating it was learned from the mother.

Just today this manager pulled something that took me by surprise. I mentioned in conversation that I got overtime last week. She immediately complaining that I mentioned getting overtime in the presence of people who had not gotten overtime, claiming I was insulting them.

I have worked with this manager for years, but I never have gotten used to her. These days I just shake my head and go on with my job. That's all I know to do.

If the manager was upset about overtime perhaps she should not hire kids who are chronically late and miss work. Kids today have a very poor work ethic.

Sometimes one just has to shake it off and move on. I try to pray for them, and leave it alone. Not worth stealing your joy. Some are just bitter, and want to make everyone around them suffer. Online or in real life. You can't control others you can only control yourself. We shouldnt have to prove our worth to someone. Jesus told his disciples what to do. Leave and shake the dust from their feet. If they don't except you for who you are. They are not deserving of your time.

I work in the field of politics. I deal with people driven by vested interests all day and everyday. There is always push and pull in all directions. People who will backstab, belittle or attack you--that is the reality.

Here is my advice. As Christians, we try to see the good in people. After all, we are all sinners and we have been saved by God's grace and love. We are the embodiment of Christ in this world. But also remember that God warns us of wolves in sheep's clothing. We also must protect ourselves from them. Friendship like all other relationships is built on foundations of love, respect and trust even mutual interests and principles.

We are not supposed to convince people that we are worth their friendship. Friends must first earn each others respect and trust. If you can't be friends, at least you can be civil or have a professional working relationship with these people. Otherwise, if there is no need for you to establish any sort of relationship, then you have to pray for discernment on why God has put this person in your life.

Life is not a popularity contest. You do not get brownie points for having more friends. Quality is always better than quantity. Some people are put in our path for several reasons. You need to discern through prayers what those reasons are. The important thing to always remember is that you are a Christian and your life is your testimony of God's love and His grace.

I just lock em out of my life, if possible. They'll see how far their bad attitude can take them.

If not, just keep killing em with kindness.
