Genesis 1:1-2 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.”
The Holy Spirit is one in three, the trinity. Father, Son & the Holy Spirit.
So to answer your question, the Holy Spirit was involved right from the beginning, as mentioned in Genesis.

All three persons of the Trinity were involved in Creation—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, was involved with God the Father in the creation of everything (John 1: 1-3; Colossians 1:15-17; Hebrews 1: 2). And as Mel85 already pointed out, the “Spirit of God” hovering over the face of the waters. (Genesis 1: 1-2). The Hebrew word for “Spirit” is often translated as “wind” or “breath.” When God formed man, He “breathed” [Spirit] into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7).
Similarly, we find in Job 33 verse 4:
“The Spirit of God has made me. And the breath of the Almighty gives me life."
In Psalm 33:6, we also get a glimpse of the Spirit’s work in creation:
“By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
And by the breath [Spirit] of His mouth all their host.”
Continuing in verse 7, the Psalmist writes:
"He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;
He lays up the deeps in storehouses.” (Psalm 33:7)
See how similar verse 7 is: "He gathers the waters of the sea together" with Genesis 1:2 wherein the "Spirit of God was hovering" or moving over the face of the waters. The word “hovering” conveys the idea of a bird sitting in a nest, caring over her eggs which will become new lives. Similarly, in the Creation account, God prepares to bring life into the world through His Holy Spirit.
Furthermore, the use of the word “us” and “our” in Genesis conveys the idea of the Trinity. (Genesis 1:26; 3:22; 11:7)
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…(Genesis 1:26)
Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, (Genesis 3:22)
Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech." (Genesis 11:7)
Lastly, the Hebrew word for God, Elohim, is plural and is used in Creation to refer to God.

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist" (Colossians 1:16-17).
The Trinity certainly was involved in the creation - but according to Paul - Jesus was the actual Creator - and He continues to hold it together. If Jesus were to commit even one sin all of creation would fall apart, even a little lie - such as failing to keep the soul of even one sinner that receives Him as personal Saviour. One of the greatest arguments for 'eternal security'.

I have a theory that the holy spirit was in and part of everything at the point of creation. But following the call when everything became tainted, the Holy Spirit left. For mankind that left a Holy Spirit shaped hole in each one of us which is filled once again when we are born again. For those who aren’t born again it gets filled by the wrong thing it’s why so many turn to the occult, other religions. Because deep down we are suppose to be filled by the Holy Spirit but something is missing without him.
There are plenty of verses in the bible which talk about the HS coming down on people. Also verses about Him departing - King Saul for example. We are not spiritually alive without Him.

God is Spirit indeed, and He spoke all things into being. He breathed life into all that live.
It is certain all who read this know this from the Word, and of course understand it implicitely.
I do not for it is so far beyond the scope of my complete understanding it seems unattainable, understanding that is...........but one Day our Father will instill this in us, and we will all know......if we do nnot know it is for agood reason. Praise God, amen.

God is spirit. So you are asking how God was involved in the creation?!!
Everything proceeded from within God who is a spirit.

Our spirits are joined with the Holy Spirit (only partly) like Jesus and the Father are joined. Their union is perfect and complete. That is what makes God: God. That is why He can be everywhere at once. Once we put off our fleshly bodies, we will be more completed as spirits. There will different levels of reward and completeness as is suggested in the scriptures. He will reward everyone according to their works. See the parable of the talents starting at Matt. 25:14.
God is not going to share everything with us while we have flesh. In fact, we wouldn't be capable of comprehending most things. Paul likened it to looking through glass darkly. Paul also said when we are face to face with God, we will know as we are known. The references made to knock, seek and ask are far more possible than we take advantage. By open minded, I mean setting aside what tradition has passed us.
Back on the subject of defining the Holy Spirit. I feel that labeling it as a separate entity/person, we fail to comprehend the unity that is involved. God gave me a vision once in a dream: It involved Jesus and the Heavenly Father both occupying a space, while the HS was like a blinding light that connected them and radiated out. The HS is the force or power of God.

The unsaved have a spirit, but it is dead - he is 'soulish' meaning that his only avenue of worship is nature. When that man hears the Gospel and receives Jesus Christ as Saviour . . . it is then that the Holy Spirit 'breathes' life into the human spirit and that man becomes a new creature in Christ. The body dies with regard to the requirements of the law and the soul is separated and joined with the spirit.
"And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness" (Romans 8:10).
"And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it" (Colossians 2:10-15).
"Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ"
(Ephesians 3:7-8).

Then I must ask, why label something that confines it. You are saying God in His entirety is the HS. To me that is like saying the HS is a person. I think that is an oversimplified statement. If you can define what it is like to be everywhere at once you can then describe the HS. Better yet, let's say the HS, Jesus and the Father is God complete. Separate any one and you lose completeness.
