It is a response to the op but also an inquiry.

not really

this is your way of sidetracking a thread, which you have done so many times

it's a back door answer to an upfront post. the op posts about biblical doctrine, but you actually want to refute one

let's just be honest about it

Christians have only themselves to blame if they do not understand Bible doctrine and Bible truth.

With the vast number of FREE websites which can enable one to use any and all legitimate Bible study tools, no one has any excuse-- except LAZINESS.

By the same token many who call themselves Christians may be so in name only, not having been regenerated. And without the indwelling Holy Spirit, the Bible will make absolutely no sense.

that's not really true

the onus seems to be on those who call themselves 'teacher' and there are far too many who have never been called to be any teacher of any sort

how about babes in Christ? how about those who are quite young who accept Christ?

not everyone is retired and studies the Bible at leisure

however, I do believe God knows those who are His and He does lead them even though sometimes the path may be winding and some of us have to unlearn things we have been taught when under teachers we did not know were false

Yup. This is very common in America, and even in southern europe.
Most people dont know a thing about the bible, yet if you ask them they say they are christians because they were born into cultural christianity. I.e. they were baptized into the catholic church when born usually.
Or alternatively they grew up in a baptist church, said a prayer and now will identify as christians for the rest of their life, despite never reading the bible, never praying, never going to church, never giving God a second thought.
This is the case in most countries and in the three umbrella groups of faith, Christian, Moslem, and Judaism.......the majority ar "born into their faith," but when it comes to knowledge of their own doctrine, they simply follow the crowd that does the same as they.

The truth is, the more any read the Word and delve as deeply as they are able, the more they are apt to be objects of inquisition, unjust inquisition.....and so it goes.

Very true, and many websites teach false doctrines themselves. And yes, there are many believers who are babes in Christ because of various reasons; no bible, no teacher, no discipleship...and many remain babes in Christ for their entire lives or even fall under false doctrine because of their lack of scriptural discernment.

I truly hope this is not your opinion of elders who are in Christ!

When the Holy Spirit entered into me by the Hand of God nearly 50 years ago, I dropped everything and went to the mountains to read the Word and share with all who would hear me.

When I say I dropped everything, I mean everything. I read the Word for three years in the Rocky Muontains, and spent the winters on a circuit of three states sharing the Word with ayone who would heeaqr, and there were many.

Now, in my late years, due to encroaching blindenss I read far less than when I was making the time as I grew in Christ, yeshua. I do read everyday, but less, actually I hear the Word read for me.

No one should assume oler people jkust read at their leisure and put it in print published for all to taqke as some kind of new dogma of the Body of Christ……...a little repect goes a long way for your older family in Christ……..Praise god, He is worthy, not we.

Ideally all Christians should be in local churches where gifted evangelists, pastors, and teachers are helping babes in Christ to grow.

Also, ideally, each new convert should be personally discipled by a mature brother or sister (depending on gender).

Unfortunately, evangelical and fundamentalists churches have been moving further and further away from the New Testament pattern for some time, while false teachers have been proliferating within and outside the churches. Thus Christians are frequently left to their own devices to sink or swim.

Christ crucified is the main lesson to understand, why and what He has accomplished in His unique victory for us all.
Yes indeed. Yet the comprehensive finished work on the Cross and what it means to Christians is frequently neglected by those given the task of preaching and teaching.

I was paraqphrasing Paul's admonition that people not go off on tngents but focus on Christ, and all He has done for us… I suppose it should be more comprehensive, perhaps quoting directly andmore of the text....

Cultural Christians are people who live in an officially Christian country so they think about themselves as Christians, but they are not.
What are some of those officially Christian countries?

It is of note that Lifeway Research, a branch of Lifeway Christian Resources (bookstores) conducted this study, and when you walk into any of its stores the shelves are lined with books of well known heretics. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

I would encourage you to get out of your USA-centric mindset. In terms of God's timeframe and the world as a whole, what happens inside the US is relatively insignificant. Y'all are abundantly blessed... and blinded.

Heresy? I believe this word is a bit off if your intent i asking if someone is under a misconception.

I do not consider a person heretical who observes the first day of the week as the Sabbath of the Lord, would you? I certainly hope people do not think that of me for loving the day given by God.

Using such strong language leaqds to things like the Inquisition and to people like Torrequemada…...not a good thing at all…….not to forget Constantine.
I wouldn't give a lot of credit to that which invokes the H word over every little thing. That type mind set caused countless innocent people to suffer excruciating torture and death due to the predisposition to label anything they wished to use as leverage against those they hated as Heresy.

Eternal hell fire doctrine!!
Can i ask you a question; if heavens and earth are going to pass away and in their place we shall have new heavens and new earth, where will this eternal hell be?
Psa 63:9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
Eph 4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
Eph 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things).

Hell is in the lower parts of the earth.

1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Jesus descended in to the lower parts of the earth and conquered death, hell, and the grave.

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2Pe 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

This current heaven and earth has been tainted with sin, so the heavens shall melt with fervent heat, and the earth and the works of the earth shall be burned up, and they will be dissolved.

And there will be a new heaven and a new earth where sin has never been, and sin will never be, and there is no hell among them.

Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Hell is the lower parts of the earth, and death and hell is cast in to the lake of fire, so the earth shall be cast in to the lake of fire and burn up.

All sin must be purged with fire, and heaven and earth has been tainted with sin that cannot be washed away, like there is no good thing that dwells in the flesh and the sin cannot be washed away from the flesh, which is why the saints put off the flesh, and receive a glorified body.

With the mind we serve Christ.

10/17/2018 " How well do Christians really understand biblical doctrine about their faith?
Ligonier Ministries released its third study on the State of Theology in the United States conducted by LifeWay Research.
They asked 3,000 Americans what they believe about "God, salvation, ethics, and the Bible" and discovered several alarming heresies that some Christians say they believe.
"One of the most striking findings is that Americans continue to fail to grasp that God is holy," Ligonier said in a statement.
A whopping 69 percent of Americans disagree with the idea that "Even the smallest sin deserves eternal damnation," a doctrine clearly outlined in the Bible.
It turns out that evangelical Christians also have a hard time believing what the Bible says about man's sinful nature. This is demonstrated by the fact that 52 percent of evangelicals agree that everyone sins a little, "but most people are good by nature." "
http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2018...g-a-heresy-you-might-according-to-a-new-study

30 thousand member congregations at so called mega-churches that never hear the speaker at the pulpit talk about sin and repentance I think leads to this false understanding. Very troubling times but it is all part of God's plan. And it will arrive at a glorious conclusion in his due time. That's the one thing that makes the things happening in this world bearable I think. That and not watching the worldly news but reading Christian news sites instead.
Though from time to time happening on One America News isn't a bad thing. The one true unbiased news site broadcast in America. Thank God.
There is an assumption that all who say they are "Christian" are really saved.
Assumptions are most often wrong.
