Anyone else here a problem with figuring this out?

I know that I want a closer relationship with Christ, but it’s almost like I’m trying to get more friendships with Christian people so that I can get closer to Christ by fellowshipping with them. But that doesn’t sound right. I mean it’s part of it but not all.

Then at the same time my stupid emotional self fears that I’m gonna be alone forever relationship wise…

It’s one of those situations where I feel like I’m being pulled in all directions of what I “want“ yet I don’t really know what I need, other than to get closer to Christ. But it’s almost like I don’t know how to do that, like I’m kind of listless.

Anyone else get that feeling ever?

Hey great question. While I think fellowship with others can help us get closer to Him, that loving others, sincerely, taking precious and tender care as we are called, is part of abiding in Him. I think when it comes down to it, we get closer to Him and what He wants in one on one time with Him, in prayer and His word. We can not find Him through seeking or wanting mercy and acceptance from others, but we do giving them to others. Our time with others seems best served, most edifying, when we are as selfless as can be. It takes away the need or want and takes us to a place of service. Don't get me wrong, I struggle still at my ripe old age of 53 wanting to find comfort in connection with others too. But our ultimate fulfilling should be found in Him. We are all a PART of the portion of Him, for sure. We just need to remember that ULTIMATELY He is our portion.

I don't know if i have a problem figuring out what i want for the most part, i think the difficult part is changing my desires. So often i want things that aren't useful or even bad for me. I know I should seek Christ, I know i should spend more time with Him, but many times if I'm completely honest i don't want to or push it off constantly. I know if i could cling to Christ everything would be ok but I don't, how do i fix that? Many people that were greatly used of God have prayer in common apparently so that's where i want to start but prayer is hard. Sometimes i think it's redundant even, obviously this is wrong but it's just how i feel sometimes. The question i would like answered is how do I become a better servant of Christ when i don't necessarily have the will to. Goals are easily made, they're rarely achieved. If possible I'd like to reach mine as i feel called to do certain things i want to do them, but i don't want to get distracted with myself and forget Christ. Sorry for rambling cx.
