I want your input friends on the Spirit of God in us is without blemish even in those who are not saved yet. Based on Genesis 1:2; the darkness was upon the face of the deep; in other words: sin was upon the face of the spirit of God in us. That means, darkness (sin) doesn't come into contact with the face of the deep (spirit of God in us). So when the light (Jesus) was told to come, the darkness was not seen and there was light (life or awakening) to our spirit.

Well there is no doubt that God sustains everything, and did breath life into us, so in that way I agree with you. As far as the unsaved having "Spirit of God", then no. The breath of life, yes, but the dead spirit of man is the whole problem. We are born with a DEAD spirit and disconnected from Him. That is the whole reason He even came to save us, to pay the spiritual price for our sin. I do not believe fallen man has any spirit other than a dead spirit, until He save us and we are reborn, making our spirit alive and reconciling it to His Holy Spirit as we were created to be.

So in a way I agree with you, born digging deep and really thinking about it, no I do not think the unsaved have the "Spirit of God" in them at all, that's why they are fallen.

the Complete Jewish Bible reads this way:

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2 The earth was unformed and void, darkness was on the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God hovered over the surface of the water.

3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

4 God saw that the light was good, and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. So there was evening, and there was morning, one day.

so........don't think it was that one either.......

I believe that born again is just a re-awakening of the spirit. The spirit is alive but because of darkness over it, just like in the darkness of the night, we fell asleep and when light broke up the next morning, we are awake again. A baby in the womb is in darkness and when they are born into the world, they see the light and they cried which is a sign of life.

It ain't the KJV, that's for sure........... :)
Yes, I paraphrased the bible verse. I look at the deep as our inner spirit (spiritual man) and darkness as sin. What I learnt from the text is that unform and void are hidden inside darkness but in reality when God said, "Let there be light", darkness was gone and so unform and void are also gone, and God said that the light is good. Our good is hidden inside the darkness, in other words, there was a form and also no void but darkness covered them. The light is Jesus and when word of God (Jesus) is spoken, it is not directed to any other part of our being but to our spirit man and darkness that was on it will automatically removed and our spirit man is awaken. Our true self is our spirit man and darkness was hiding this true man.

No, the spirit wasn't alive, we were spiritually dead. Note Ephesians 2:1-5. We were "given life," "reanimated," "made alive" signifying being dead. This is not being "awakened."

We weren't drowning when we were spiritually dead, needing a lifesaver and able to grasp it.

We were instead already drowned, "nekros" needing life itself not an awakening.

Not a valid illustration with a baby in the womb.

there's some serious sickness here in this thread -
perhaps those who 'think' that they 'preach',
maybe should sit back and learn from those whom
God has sent forth with His Holy Words -
mayhaps they will come to know and accept
what our Saviour has to share...

God and His word is to the point, it means just what it says with both a literal and spiritual interpretation. When scripture speaks of creating our world it is speaking of creating our world, not speaking about the sin within us. That comes when scripture speaks of Adam and Eve's disobedience.

The original Hebrew of the beginning of scripture makes understanding much clearer than even the CJB. The earth at the beginning was Choshek, meaning in chaos, the opposite of good. God's light of that first day was Owr meaning enlightenment, joy, good. On the fourth day the light, in Hebrew, was marot, meaning objects that emit light.

The first Pentecost was called Shavuot and happened when Moses told the 70 elders chosen to help him rule about the commandments of the Lord. At that time the 70 received the Holy Spirit that acted very like the Holy Spirit acted at the Pentecost told of in Acts. The exception was that for the elders the Holy Spirit within them was only for a short time. Every year this time was Shavuot was celebrated on the date of the first giving of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost happened on this date of the year. We are to know that they are related. Both times have to do with receiving the law. The Holy Spirit guides us to do what is right in God's eyes.

This all reeks of New Age theology. We are all Godly inside and when we reach inward the good will prevail. It is all hogwash. Our consciouses will not guide us to do good. There is no good within us unless God put it there with His Spirit. The less we live to ourselves, the more Spirit transforms us to the image of His Son. We must decrease so He can increase.

Prov. 14:12 "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

Only a person who has been baptized and had the laying on of hands afterward can have the HS IN them, but unconverted people can have the HS with them, that is very powerful too and comes when God is working with you!

I understand what you mean, and honestly agree for the most part, I just wouldn't say "re-awakened", I would say given life for the first time, having your spirit reconciled with His Spirit, reconnecting us to our Creator as we were created to be, made whole in Jesus name, for His glory. Transformed to bring this truth to the ends of creation, by His power every knee will bow, and tongue confess Jesus is King, and all enemies will be made His footstool, everything will be under Him, by His will, by His grace, and through His power. Man I really, really, love our Lord, our Savior, Our God, the Almighty Jesus "THE" Christ!!!!!(y)
