The whole purpose of "election" was the Lord Jesus Christ. In order to truly understand and comprehend "election" we need to get our focus off of ourselves (or any other descendant of Adam). The whole point of "election" was preservation of the lineage of the promised seed (the Lord Jesus Christ).

Romans 9:11 For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth

The ultimate "purpose of God according to election" was the Lord Jesus Christ. In Eph 3:11, Paul writes about the eternal purpose which [God] purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

You're getting distracted by the Jacob and Esau issue and missing the whole point of "election" (the Lord Jesus Christ).
God did choose an elect people before the foundation of the world (Eph 1:4) Chosen "US" (plural).

He chose His elect Christ before the foundation of the world. Those who would be found in Christ, God's elect, would receive the heavenly blessings.

By his foreknowledge, he found no one in Christ (Ps 53:2-3).

By his foreknowledge, he found no one in Christ (Ps 53:2-3).
Then he is a liar

Because it says he chose based on who he foreknew. If he forknew no one, no one was chosen.

Here is what I believe, and am totally unshakable in these truths
Doctrines of Grace or TULIP
T - total depravity of man
U - Unconditional election of the saints
L - Limited atonement
I - Irresistable Grace
P - preservation of the saints (once saved always saved.

the 5 Solas
sola scriptura the bible alone as our only source for faith and morals
sola gratia grace alone
sola fide faith alone
sola Christos Christ alone
soli deo gloria glory to God alone

The ONE true God eternally exists as three distinct Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, co-eternal, and one in essence.

Jeremiah 31

The New Covenant

31“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 32not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. 33For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

35Thus says the Lord,
who gives the sun for light by day
and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night,
who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—
the Lord of hosts is his name:
36“If this fixed order departs
from before me, declares the Lord,
then shall the offspring of Israel cease
from being a nation before me forever.”

37Thus says the Lord:
“If the heavens above can be measured,
and the foundations of the earth below can be explored,
then I will cast off all the offspring of Israel
for all that they have done,
declares the Lord.”

If you believe you can stand "holy and without blame" before God apart from "Him" (the Lord Jesus Christ), you are fooling yourself.
After those elect people were chosen and after they were born into this world by natural birth, God regenerated them (Eph 2:5) putting them IN CHRIST.

Eph 2:5 is not a standalone verse, ForestGreenCook.

Please understand Eph 2:5 in light of what is written in Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.

Hear the word of truth, the gospel of salvation.
Then believe.
Then sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.

CHOSEN in Him before the foundation of the world...(before God made the earth).....PREDESTINED to adoption as sons
Ephesians 1: 4 and 5
AND
WE obtained (past tense) the inheritance that was predestined accoding to HIS purpose
Eph 1: 11

You left out verse 3. What was chosen in Him before the foundation of the world? The spiritual blessings in Christ. Again, it does not read, "we were chosen to be in him before the foundation of the world." This is the way Calvinists read it.

You and ForestGreenCook can both stand before God apart from the Lord Jesus Christ if you so choose.

Ephesians 1:

10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

vs 12 – No trust in Christ, no gather together in one all things in Christ (vs 10), no obtain an inheritance (vs 11).

vs 13 - Hear the word of truth, the gospel of salvation, then believe, then sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.

I have explained to you more than a few times about being sealed with the holy Spirit of promise. Being sealed (stamped, earnest down payment) comes after you are already regenerated and given the Holy Spirit. Please do not be repetitious and ask me to explain it again.

The natural man, void of the Holy Spirit, cannot believe spiritual things. Believing follows being born of the Spirit.

Interesting. You ignored the post submitted by me wherein I showed you the error in your understanding concerning regeneration.

Please see Post #765

Perhaps you'd like to reply to Post 765 instead of ignoring and then insisting that your understanding is correct.

God's Word is quite clear concerning the process:

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise

Hear the word of truth, the gospel of salvation.
Then believe.
Then sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.

I see you have to add your OPINION to God's words so you can pretend it says what you want it to.
God does not like that.

uhhhhhhhhh.......I did not say "to be in Him", I said chosen BEFORE..........so your accusation is frivolous
Back to remedial reading class for YOU.

"just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him". Eph 1:4

In your post #765, you are still trying to stand on your assumption that "being sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise" is actually receiving the Holy Spirit when it is not. After receiving the Holy Spirit in regeneration (which is where we receive it according to Eph 2:5) we are then "sealed"=stamped, as an earnest=down payment, promise, until our redemption. There is no believing before regeneration.
