We know the parable of the wheat and tares, I understand how the Son of Man "sows" but I never understood the other part. How does the devil "sow" people (the tares)?
I know this is the favorite proof-text for the serpent seed doctrine, I dont know much about that but reading the geneology of Cain, it seems false already since the devil isnt listed as Cain's physical father (its mentioned in a spiritual way in the NT) but Adam is.

Mat 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

So thats the question: How does the devil "sow" people (tares)?
Not to mention that Cain's lineage was wiped out in the flood!

Hello Adstar :) I have been reading through Matthew for the last little while. In Matthew 13:38, when Jesus' disciples ask Him to explain the parable of the weeds in the field, part of what He says is, "The good seed stands for the sons of the Kingdom."
You are correct Magenta..

Matthew 23:15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

This verse is enough!

The parable is explained IN THE CONTEXT.
God (theWORD) is the sower, it is the sower who determines the "fate" of the seeds.
Some are sown as tares. Tares look like wheat but have no "fruit"
The seed is snatched away, lost, etc from the tares.
The tares will be harvested and burned up
The wheat gathered into the barn.

This parable in Matt 13 harmonizes with Luke 8
When the gospels are harmonized the scripture is enhanced.
