Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer is talked about in the past tense. Which sadly means he no longer exists, but what do we know about poor Rudolph? Evidently reindeer can talk, because they called him names like Pinocchio. They also wouldn't let him play games like Monopoly.
The Adventures of Pinocchio came out in 1883, while Monopoly came out in 1935, but was inspired by The Landlord's Game patented in 1904. So at the very least we know that Rudolph could have lived between 1883-1904, which would be right in line with the life span of a reindeer in captivity. Or it could be referring to the movie and later released game, which would mean Rudolph lived between 1935-1940. As he was first mentioned in 1939 by Robert Lewis May, that would have been more in line with the times, so perhaps Rudolph lived a short, yet fulfilling reindeer life under Santa's guidance.
We also know that reindeer can get red noses due to densely packed blood vessels near the skin's surface, so Rudolph wasn't special at all, really, only different from the existing reindeer at the North Pole. Nevertheless, Santa gave him purpose.
Here's something else: I have too much time on my hands tonight. xD
